In front of them was a small table with several devices that resembled hearing aids.  The Theron warriors walked closer to them and mimicked placing the devices in their ear. Thomas looked over to Myers to see if he would comply with the aliens’ wishes.  Myers slowly walked to the table and reached for the device and placed it in his ear.  The rest of the Earth men followed him and did the same.

Zeb was the first to speak to Meyers, “I would also like to welcome you aboard the mother ship of the Therons.”

“Ummm… I am not sure what to say at this point and all I know is something really weird just happened.” Meyers whispered.  He stood there in front of the Therons and just stared for a moment.

“Do not be afraid, Meyers. I told you that we come on a peaceful mission.  We have no intention of harming you or anyone on your planet. Come, let us begin our meeting and see if we can help each other out.”

At the other side of the room an oval table sat near a large glass window that looked out at the moon. All the men, human and Theron, moved to the table and took a seat. The human men were in awe of where they were at the moment.  They were steadily looking around and taking in all the scenery of the room they were in. They whispered back and forth between each other and had huge smiles upon their faces.

“If we can begin now, I will explain to you what we want and what we will give you in return.” Zeb got the attention of Meyers and his men and began explaining the reason for their appearance.

“I am just going to be straight forward and up front with you. We came across your planet in our search of compatible mates. War on our home planet has taken most of our females away from us either by death or imprisonment. Our enemies, the Drylons, are on a mission of trying to totally eliminate our race of warriors from our planet Theron. The Drylons declared on war on us several years ago by breaking a peace treaty that had been in place for hundreds of years. The current leader of the Drylons, Gatton, wants to claim the galaxy that contains both of the planets that we live on as his own.” Standing and walking toward one end of the table, Zeb pressed a button on the control panel.   Above the table a holographic image was projected depicting their galaxy.

“Our galaxy is called Xtran and is about one hundred thousand light years away from your planet Earth. We use worm holes, as I said before, to travel to different parts of the universe. The worm hole that is behind your very own moon leads to the galaxy of Fio. Fio is not far from our galaxy. The Fio galaxy is a peaceful galaxy. We trade within it quite often with some of the different civilizations that it contains.” Zeb stopped speaking for a moment and looked to Zane, the ship’s physician, who picked up the conversation.

“Like commander Zeb said a few minutes ago, we have been searching the galaxies for compatible mates. Your planet is the first planet that we have come across that appears to have compatible DNA to ours. I have been studying human DNA since we first arrived here and have only found minimal differences that would not affect the successful cross-breeding of a Theron and earth female. Therefore, we are seeking to make a trade with you.  If you will allow us to obtain some of your human females, in return we will give you the knowledge and information you seek in order to further your space exploration capabilities.” Zane looked directly at Meyers who was just sitting there with a blank look on his face and mouth hanging open.

“Let me get this straight. You want to trade for women?”

“Yes, but only those who are in child bearing years.” Zane responded back.

“Ummm.. That doesn’t sound very ethical. I mean, we would basically be selling women to you to use as baby factories.”

“Let me explain it a little better. Your women would not be baby factories as you called it. They would be paired with a Theron warrior who would be taking the female as his mate for the rest of his or her life. There would be a bonding ceremony where the warrior pledges to care for his female all the days of his life. Traditionally, Therons take only one mate for life and would do anything in order to protect his mate and the offspring they conceive.”

Meyers thought for moment then asked, “How would you select the females that you wanted? Or were you just planning on taking random women not caring if they had families of their own? Please, explain this to me.”

Zeb stood back up in front of the earth men still sitting at the table and said, “We want females in child bearing age. We would be very selective in the ones that are chosen. We would not take any female that is already bonded to another on earth, or any that have children. We would also not take all the females from one particular area, as this would cause problems. We also request that this meeting and all its content remain secret and not go beyond this room. In return we are willing to give you the knowledge and capabilities of expanding your space travel. We will give you the one vital piece that is required to travel through the worm holes. It’s called cavmenton. It is not found on your planet or on any planet in your solar system. We get the cavmenton from a planet  that died several thousand years ago very near to Theron. It is a rock that contains such energy and power, that only a small chip of it is needed at a time. The piece that allows our ship to travel through the worm holes is no bigger than my hand.”

Immediately Meyers stood up and asked excitedly, “Can we see this cavmenton?”

“Of course. Come and I will show you.” said Brylon.

The three Therons followed by the earth men filed out of the room.  They traveled through a corridor that reminded the earth men of some of the concrete passage ways that ran under the United State Government’s most top secret facilities.  As they walked, the men’s eyes were looking  everywhere, taking in as much of their surroundings as they could. They walked for several minutes.  They approached a closed door that Brylon opened by putting the palm of hand on a yellow pad on the wall next to it. The door slid open with a small hiss and the group then walked into a room that resembled an engine room of some sort.

“Come this way please.” Brylon lead the group to a large silver tube that rose from the floor to the ceiling. As they approached, Meyers could see a smaller door on the side of the tube that had the same type of hand pad similar to the one that the outside door did. Again, Brylon placed his hand on the yellow pad and immediately the smaller door slid open. Inside was a blue-green rock that sat in the middle of the tube.

“This, my friends, is cavmenton. This one piece has powered our ship for many years now. When we are in need of a new piece, we obtain it from the large stone that we have stored on the ship.” Brylon watched as Meyers and the other men stared at the rock in amazement not uttering a word.

Meyers looked at Zeb with eyes that were shining and said, “I believe we have a deal gentlemen.”

The Therons returned the earth men to the planet along with a piece of cavmenton about the size of a bag of concrete.  They also received detailed directions on how to use it. According to the men, they were going to be rich beyond their wildest dreams.

There was only one thing that Therons had kept from the human men.  That was the manner in which the women would obtain their mate. It wasn’t going to a pairing as they were lead to believe, but the women were to be put up for auction to the highest bidding warrior.

With the terms of the agreement met and delivered to earth, Zeb and the warriors under his command started out on the search for the human women. The women were going to have to be taken in small groups and not all from the same area.  It must be accomplished without causing a mass panic. The women were to be taken immediately upon capture to ship’s infirmary.  There, they would be examined by the ship’s doctor and then placed in a holding room until the auction for the women began.  The auction would be within a day or two of their arrival on the ship. Every warrior on the ship was going to have a fair chance at acquiring one of the earth females, but for a price.

Once in the holding room the women would be offered an explanation as to what was to happen to them.  They would be informed as to how things were going to work at the auction. They would learn that if after a six month period, they were not entirely happy with the warrior who purchased them or if they were abused in any way at any time, they could request to be put back up for auction and resold to another warrior. The Therons wanted this arrangement to work out for the sake of their race.

Chapter 4

Zeb turned around to face the girl that was now backed up against Brylon, the ship’s Chief engineer and his best friend. Three strides took him face to face with the earth female that had gotten the best of Lars and lived to escaped. On the side of her face was a large red imprint of a hand. Zeb reached out to turn her face so that he could see it more clearly. He was met  with a face that showed nothing but pure fear that flinched backwards from his touch. Giving the small woman a slight smile so that maybe she would not be so afraid of him, he reached for her face again and this time she allowed him to turn it towards the moonlight shining through the trees. Speaking in his own language Zeb asked Brylon, “Did Lars do this?”

“Yes, I came through the bushes right when he was hauling her to her feet. Lars is out of control, Zeb. He almost took the girl’s head off.  He knocked her out for a moment before he started going after her again. He is going to end up killing one of these Earth females just for the pleasure of it and Gods help the poor woman he may win at the auction.” Brylon said while steadying the girl on her feet.

“He will definitely be dealt with once we get back to the ship. Even if I have to throw him into the ship’s jail myself. I have certainly had enough of him.” Zeb glanced back down at the woman and said to her in his language, “I am sorry for my warrior’s behavior towards you. I know you cannot understand me yet. You can trust me when I say; he will pay for what he did to you. Brylon, bring her over this way so that we can be clear of the trees in order to transport us up to the ship.”

Brylon took hold of the woman’s upper arm and took a step forward to show her that he wanted her to move.   When she took a step, she cried out in pain and then slumped forward to let him know that she needed to sit down. Releasing her arm once on the ground, Brylon immediately called out to Zeb, “She’s injured herself, Zeb. Come have a look.” Zeb turned back to the woman and came to squat in front of her and looked questionably into her eyes in order to get her to show him where her injury was.

Avery looked up as the huge man approached her again.  She followed him with her eyes as he squatted down in front of her. His eyes were the most beautiful set of eyes she had ever seen. A deep purple with tiny flecks of gold stared back at her. He was looking at her and waiting for something but what? She flinched when he started to feel her leg but quickly realized that he was looking for the source of her pain.

“It’s my ankle.” She said in a small voice and pointed to the ankle that was hurting.

He softly pushed up the leg of her pants in order to examine her ankle. She gave a sharp intake of breath when he tried to lift her foot so that he could remove her shoe. She could see for herself that the area right above her sock line was quickly swelling and turning purple.  As he removed her tennis shoe, a stab of pain shot up her leg and made her cry out and brought tears to her eyes. She was panting as if she were in labor until the pain subsided. She wasn’t even aware that the strange man had stopped what he was doing and was now saying something softly to her. The pain took a few minutes to ease and when it did she gave the man a shake of her head to let him know it was ok. Without saying another word Zeb leaned down and scooped her up into his arms.  They headed towards the clearing where the other men were gathering, including the one that had struck her.

“Call the ship and let them know that we are at the designated rendezvous point.  They can bring us up now.” Zeb told Brylon.

Brylon pulled his communicator out of his pocket and called the ship, “Mother ship we are at the rendezvous point. Lock on to us and bring us up.”

Avery clung to the strange man’s neck for fear of falling out of his arms. She felt like a child compared to him. She wondered why they were just standing there in the middle of a clearing. She started to feel a tingling sensation throughout her body and looked up at the man while her grip on his neck got tighter. He said something to her, but it was of no use. The warrior standing next to them slowly began to fade away and she immediately had another panic attack. She struggled against the grip holding her but it was iron tight. Her breathing became labored as she began to hyperventilate and her head started to pound again. Her eyes just could not comprehend what she was seeing. One moment they were in the dark moonlit woods, and the next they were standing in a brightly lit area that could have been classified as a docking bay.

The area was noisy and there was movement all around them. Clanking noises of tools, the hum of motors and shouting could be heard all around her while men worked on some kind of aircraft she had never seen before. Others stood by and watched as the man carrying her and his companion she collided into headed towards a door that slid open when they approached it. They walked down a long corridor that was so sterile looking it made her skin crawl. She had no idea where they were headed but she listened to the two men talking to each other in their own language as they headed down the corridor. They stopped at a silver colored door that slid open when the man carrying her pressed a yellow glowing button on the wall with the palm of his hand.

When they stepped inside the room Avery could see numerous beds.  There was hospital type equipment all along the walls and beside each of the beds. One of the men called out loudly and another man came around the corner of one wall in the same type of uniform the other two men were wearing. The individual that she deduced must be the ship’s doctor said something to the man carrying her and he turned and placed her gently onto one of the beds. The doctor approached the bed and said, “I am Zane, the ship physician. What is your name?”
