I tried not to read into Jayce’s comment. He was referring to the competition, surely.

I smiled slightly before admitting, “my friend is actually the one who signed me up for the show. I would never have gone through with it if it hadn’t been for her meddling.”

“I’ll have to thank your friend when I meet her.”

“She would love to meet you, she thinks you’re hot,” I confessed.

“Really?” he laughed lightly. “And do you agree with her?”

“About what?” I asked playfully.

“Do you find me
hot
?” he emphasized the word and I was surprised to see his cheeks blush, ever so slightly.

I stood up and closed the gap between us. His arms were around me instantly, pulling me flush against his body. I closed my eyes and pressed my lips to his. I explored his mouth with my tongue. He tasted rich and fruity, and as I flicked my tongue against his, he moaned.

I pushed backwards. “Does that answer your question?”

His response was to pick me up and sit me on top of the bench, wedging his body between my legs. He felt his way underneath the thin fabric of my top and gently kneaded my breasts through my bra. He kissed my neck as his fingers made their way beneath the lace. His fingers gently fondling my nipple until the skin puckered under his touch.

“Show me the rest of your house?” I asked.

The torn expression on his face told me he knew what I was really asking. I wanted to see his bedroom.

“Please?” I pouted before placing a kiss on his neck, just below his ear. He helped me off the counter and grabbed my hand, leading me upstairs.

His bedroom was not what I expected. It was airy, white, modern and extremely tidy. The king size bed dominated the room, the cushioned headboard was a golden beige color, with matching cushions scattered on the bed. The linen and pillows were all white and plush. A long, white chaise sat near the window, facing the bed. Two doors ran off of the bedroom, one was open and I could see the modern white bathroom inside. The other door, I assumed was a walk-in-closet.

Although Jayce and Samantha had lived in the condo as a couple, the room was free of anything that indicated a woman lived there. There were no skin creams on the nightstand and the vanity was bare, with no perfume or makeup in sight. I was strangely relieved and found it easier to relax as I sat on the edge of the bed.

Jayce looked at me, his hands flung into his pockets as he seemingly struggled with his thoughts. I patted the edge of the bed, asking him to sit next to me and he smiled weakly.

Instead of sitting down, he walked over to the window and pressed a button. The block-out blinds lowered automatically and he turned on a lamp that sat next to the chaise. I raised my eyebrows at him.

“What?” he smirked. “I’m a musician. We’re nocturnal. I can’t sleep in light rooms.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “Fair enough.”

He came toward me, his face turning serious. He dipped his head and kissed me.

“You have no idea how long I’ve imagined you here, sitting in my room, on my bed.”

I met his gaze and a look crossed his face, a look that I couldn’t quite read.

“I’m not going to sleep with you, Kyla.”

Of all the things he could have said in that moment, they were not the words I was expecting. And I couldn’t stop the look of disappointment from surfacing on my face.

“That’s not why I invited you here.”

He laid me back on the bed, grabbing a cushion and resting it under my head.

“I want to,” I said hoarsely.

He kissed my temple and then rested his arm over my stomach, his other hand supporting his head as he looked down into my eyes.

“I want to as well, but I’m going to prove to you that this isn’t about sex.”

I was surprised by how disappointed I was. I raised my hand and ran my fingers through his hair, the black tufts fell forward, covering his forehead. He looked at me, his green eyes hypnotic, completely mesmerizing me.

Jayce didn’t want to sleep with me, but he’d brought me to his bedroom. He wanted something from me and I was ready to persuade him to rethink his decision. I sat up and raised my hands, pulling my top over my head, revealing the lacy black bra I’d chosen especially for this occasion. Jayce’s breathing fastened and I hadn’t even touched him yet.

I stood and slipped out of my skirt, revealing the matching G-string to my bra. I stood before him wearing only my underwear. The way his eyes drank me in, I might as well have been naked. I stooped over his body, giving him view of my ample cleavage. I gently slipped my fingers underneath the waistband of his sweats and pulled them off of his body. He didn’t assist, but he didn’t oblige either. I could see through his underwear that he was hard and ready for me. I ran one fingertip over him through the thin fabric, causing his whole body to shiver.

I looked up at him through my lashes, grinning as I straddled him. Grabbing the hem of his t-shirt, I pulled it over his head, revealing his chest. I had been pressed against his firm chest before and I had let my fingers feel the hard sinew beneath his clothes, but I’d never actually seen him without a shirt on. He was everything I imagined. The perfect poster boy.

I traced lines down his body with my fingertips. His breathing hitched as I made my way down to his belly button, finding a small trail of hair that led beneath his underwear. I hitched my fingers underneath the elastic band, ready to pull the fabric from his body. I looked up at him, my eyes pleading with him to let me continue. He nodded his head once and I stripped his briefs from his body, setting his bulge free.

I ran my hand up the length of him and he inhaled sharply. With my legs either side of him, I made my way back to his face. Kissing his lips, the excitement he felt was clear, his kisses hungry. I licked a line down his neck and flicked my tongue over each of his nipples. Circling them before gently biting on the sensitive flesh. A low moan escaped from his throat as the skin puckered under my touch.

As I explored his body, both with my eyes and my mouth, I found a small scribe written along the left side of his ribs. I traced the letters with my finger,
Semper ad meliora.

“Is that Italian?”

He followed my gaze, peering down at the tattoo.

“It’s Latin.”

“What does it mean?”

“It means,
always towards better things
.”

A smile played on my lips.

“Ironic, no?” He continued, “I got it when I was young. Before the band was famous. I guess I was always wanting better things for myself.”

I bent forward and kissed a line along the tattoo and trailed down his abs, licking my way to his raging hard on. I flicked my tongue over the tip once, causing him to shiver again. I took the length of him in my mouth, as my hand gently pulled at the base of his cock. I raised my head and then took him in my mouth again, this time deeper causing a low moan from deep in his throat. His reaction turned me on, I began moving my mouth fast, up and down over his hard form. He raised his hips from the bed slightly, begging me to take him deeper. I took him so deep that it made me gag, he groaned loudly, letting me know that’s exactly what he wanted.

I gazed up at him. He was watching me intently, his face flushed. He bit down on the corner of his lip and his eyes rolled back in his head, that’s when I knew he was close. I pumped him into my mouth, faster and harder.

“Fuck, Kyla,” he breathed.

I ran my free hand along the length of his body and found his hand, lacing my fingers through his. I sucked him deep into my mouth and pulled him hard with my hand.

“I’m gonna come,” he let out.

He squeezed my hand, his nails biting into my skin as he exploded into my mouth.

I felt his cock twitch against my tongue as he came down from the height of his climax.  I licked the tip of his cock once more, taking every last drop into my mouth as his whole body shuddered beneath me. He propped himself up, his elbows supporting his weight as he looked at me.

“Come here,” he whispered, his breathing still uneven.

I stretched out on the bed next to him, the crisp linen wrinkling around me as his hand grabbed me behind the neck, pulling my mouth to his. The kiss was passionate and full of promise.

“Fuck, you’re amazing,” he murmured, his warm breath hitting my lips.

He kissed a trail down to my breasts and unclasped my bra with one hand, exposing my bare chest. He dipped his head and his mouth latched onto my nipple, causing me to inhale sharply. The pleasure and the pain of his teeth gently teasing me was almost too much to bear. I wriggled beneath him, my hips grinding against his torso.

“So impatient,” he chuckled before he moved to the next breast.

He flicked his tongue over my other nipple, while his hand trailed down my body, cupping my sex. I rocked against his hand, pressing into him. He laced our fingers together with his other hand and I flinched when I felt the cold band of his wedding ring touch my skin.

He looked up at me in question and then his gaze fell to his hand. His arm retreated and he removed the ring, letting it drop to the floor. He looked back at my face with a tight, apologetic smile. I thought he might stop his exploration of my body, which was the last thing I wanted.  I lifted my hips from the bed, begging him to continue.

He took advantage, licking my sex through my thong and I moaned my approval. He waited a few moments, before his tongue rolled over me once again. When I thought I could take it no longer, he slowly rolled my panties off my body. Unwrapping me as one would unwrap a present on Christmas morning, with rampant excitement and anticipation.

He looked down at my body for a moment, shaking his head.

“You don’t realize how beautiful you are.”

His finger dipped between my folds, slowly fondling the length of my sex.

“You’re so wet,” he breathed, his mouth painfully close to where I wanted him.

He gently inserted one finger inside me. I moaned and bucked my hips against his hand. I couldn’t get enough of his touch.

Without warning, his mouth was covering me. He started by circling my clit with his tongue, causing me to moan, begging him not to stop. He didn’t. He kept moving his tongue as he inserted another finger inside me. Slowly at first, then he thrust it in and out in time with his tongue. I gripped the sheets as his fingertips cut into the sensitive skin between my thighs, holding me in place.

I began to feel every lick intensely, as my whole body began to tingle.

“Yes,” I moaned, as his mouth ate me from side to side.

My breath was coming in short gasps and I knew I was close. He lifted his head from my sex and shuffled up the bed.

“Kiss me while you come,” he said with a lick of the lips.

I kissed him hard and I could taste myself on his tongue. It should have disgusted me, but it didn’t. As his fingers fondled me, my body writhed under his touch, an intense orgasm threatening to rip through me.

“Jayce.” I moaned.

“Come for me.” He demanded, his palm working me hard.

His tongue was wild in my mouth as his palm rubbed me the rest of the way. I cried into his mouth, the height of my orgasm intensified by how much I craved this man and his touch.

As I came down from the amazing climax he gave me, Jayce pressed a gentle kiss to my temple. Pulling back the bed sheets, he eased me underneath the covers. Then he climbed in next to me, nothing between us but pure body heat. He wrapped his arms around me and exhaled.

“You have no idea.” He whispered against my skin.

I thought he was going to say something else, but he just shook his head.

“No idea.” He muttered once more.

Chapter 12

Everything changed between Jayce and I after that afternoon at his condo. We hadn’t gone all the way, but we did get to know each other on an intimate level. Jayce insisted that our relationship was not about sex. He wanted to get to know me as a person, which completely contradicted everything I assumed to know about rock stars.

If he couldn’t see me during the day, he would text me, just to let me know he was thinking about me. It was intense. He was intense, but in a good way.

“You look different, Ky,” Emily said.

Wait. What? How did she know?

We were on our way to the studio for rehearsals. I was mindlessly looking out the window, while thinking about Jayce.

“Different? What do you mean
different
?” I said the word as if it were the first time I’d heard it.

“You look different, like… happy,” she said it as if she was surprised.

“Really? I don’t feel any different,” I lied. The change in me was obvious. I could feel it. I was truly happy, for the first time in recent memory.

“You just have this look in your eye,” she continued, “all dreamy and stuff. It must be a man.”

“What? No!” I said a little too defensively.

“Well, you’re hiding something.”

“No, I’m not.”

“Is it Marc?”

“Really?” I grumbled. “We’re back here again?”

“You are a mystery to me, Kyla Quinn.”

I smiled weakly, before staring back out the window, watching the traffic pass by.

The theme for week four of
Dreamers
was Australian music. It had appropriately been named
The
Australian Invasion.

When I was given the list of songs to choose from, I skimmed through it and picked my song in less than a minute. I chose
Torn
by Natalie Imbruglia. I loved the angst in the lyrics and the emotion I felt when singing it.

I headed to the studio for my on stage rehearsal. My heart sunk a little when I saw that the band were already in the room, which meant no alone time with Jayce. My heels announced me before I reached the stage. Jayce turned and looked at me, his lips turned up at the sides. I wore black skinny jeans with black heels and a low cut cherry red singlet. He let out a low whistle and I slapped his shoulder, warning him to be quiet.

“Looking good,” he said in a low voice.

He peered behind me and then stepped forward. Dipping his head, he kissed my lips softly. Instantly, I spun around to look at the band.
