“And I won’t be hurt?” she asked.

“I’ll see to that.”

Patrick nearly kissed her again when she stopped his lips with a single finger and shook her head.

“Except by you.”

He tensed for all of a second, but when she smiled, he returned her grin and laughed.

“Only by me,” he said.

As they kissed, Abigail was contented by the thought that she was safe, but she tensed when he pulled her from the bed and pressed her into his arms.

“Do you want the whip again? Or something else?”
