“You talk too much, old man,” Six told him.

“Only telling the truth,” Jacob said.

“Didn’t you hear me telling Johnny to remember the agreement?” Six replied.

“What fucking agreement?”

“Your boy Johnny is an ambitious son of a bitch looking to be top dog,” Six said. “When I take you out, he’ll make it happen. I’m doing this to get you fucking Fiori’s out of the picture for myself, but the agreement is that the Roadrunners and Mob will call a truce once Johnny takes over. Your story that we’ll be hunted down is bullshit.”

“It’ll never…”

The splatter of blood that erupted from Jacob’s forehead stopped his words and the cigar dropped from his mouth as he slumped to the side and fell to the floor. Six walked around the desk and pumped two more bullets in his chest to make it look like a professional hit.

“Your days are over, old man,” he said and turned to walk to the door.

He opened it slightly to glance out to the hallway outside, but it looked clear. Stepping out of the room, he quietly closed the door behind him and retraced his footsteps to get to the basement. The door he used to come into the building was still unlocked and it was silent when he made his way outside. He wiped the gun clean of his prints then expertly dismantled it as he climbed the stairs. On the way back to the Harley, he disposed of the pieces in dumpsters and down open drains. It meant they would go their separate ways and never come back together. Marion got out of the car the minute she saw him appear around the corner. She threw herself in his arms when he approached her.

“Is everything OK?” she asked.

“The Fiori’s reign is over,” he said simply.

He grabbed her hand to lead her along to the motorbike and handed her the helmet. She accepted it without question to put it on and got on behind him.

“Where are we going?” she asked.

“We’ll head north then west,” he said. “I always fancied a vacation on the coast. Carrie and Crash have booked a small beachside villa, so we’ll meet them there.”

“What about the Roadrunners?”

“They’ll find out soon enough I’ve done them a massive favor,” Six replied. “They’ll get on with their business without me.”

“I always did like the idea of being a roving freelance photographer,” Marion said and laughed.

“Traveling does sound good,” he told her.

There was still the matter of a court case to negotiate, but that was for the future and she put it out of her mind. All that mattered was that she was safe and about to embark on one hell of a ride. As the engine of the Harley roared to life, she wrapped her arms around Six’s muscular chest and hung on for the start of a new life with a man she loved.
