Chapter 12

“YOU GUYS WERE just fucking around, though, right? I don’t know what you’re surprised about,” Alex said, flipping through a magazine. He’d shown up at Jody’s apartment after work that Monday with takeout and beer. Jody had explained how he’d seen Bobby take the guy’s number at the park. Alex hadn’t seemed as surprised as Jody had.

“I don’t know. Guess I was getting caught up in happily-ever-after land.” Jody shook his head. “I think I expected him to at least not take another man’s number while we were on a date.”

“Did you guys call it a date, or were you just hanging out?”

“I don’t think we’ve ever really defined… anything.” And that was the problem, right? He’d been dumb enough to forget that Bobby’d said he wasn’t ready for a relationship. So when Bobby took that guy’s number and stuck it in his pocket, Jody felt like ten kinds of idiot.

“Another frog, I guess,” Alex said. Jody scowled. He didn’t like thinking of Bobby like that. Everything had been so easy between them the last couple weeks. He’d just been giving Bobby time to come around to the idea they might be more. That hadn’t gone so well had it?

“Well, did you at least ask him?”

“No, I haven’t know what to say. Or ask.”

Alex looked up from his magazine for the first time. “Wait, you haven’t talked to him since Saturday?”

“I was waiting until he wasn’t busy with family and I knew how to approach it.”

Alex shook his head. “Bad Jody. You can’t sit around over-thinking it if you haven’t even talked to the guy about it.” Jody flopped back on the couch.

“I know. He says he feels ‘unsteady’ around me. I guess I’m no steadier around him. I feel like I’m back in high school.”

“You’re doing a good job acting like it.”

              Jody laughed. “Hey!”

Alex jumped up from his spot near the door to answer it, since he was sitting closest when someone knocked. When he came back, Jody was shocked to see Bobby trailing him. He’d been expecting DeDe, if anyone.

“Bobby,” Jody said, realizing he sounded more excited than he’d intended. He cleared his throat, mesmerized by the strangely shy smile spreading on Bobby’s face. “What are you doing here?”

“I don’t want to interrupt,” Bobby said. Jody was almost breathless at the sight of Bobby. He wore that same suit Jody’d seen him in at DeDe’s, this time with a red button down and black skinny tie. He looked good enough to eat.

Alex cleared his throat. “No interruption. I need to head to the gym anyway.” A lie, because he’d just come from the gym when he’d arrived at Jody’s. He made a motion with his head behind Bobby. His eyes screaming “Talk to him.”

They stood across from one another, awkwardly silent until the door clicked shut behind Alex. When he finally caught Bobby’s gaze, he was surprised to see the heat there. He licked his lips, feeling the same sizzling, burning need. His cock started to rise and Bobby’s eyes flicked from Jody’s lips to the tenting in his shorts. Jody could imagine ripping that suit off Bobby, the way he’d feel against him, in him. The thoughts made his face heat as it flushed.

Bobby took a step closer but stopped, holding a hand up. Just that quickly, Jody had flashes of that guy… the business card going in Bobby’s pocket as he flirted shamelessly with the stranger. Was Bobby here to tell him to fuck off?

“I want to fuck you so bad. You’re so hot, Jo.” Jody’s head snapped back in surprise. He didn’t know what Bobby was talking about. He was in gym shorts and a t-shirt, his face probably pink after a couple beers.

“No, really. I see you think I’m crazy,” Bobby said, smiling. He moved a little closer to Jody but didn’t touch him, just leered at him. “You’re so sexy when you’re relaxed and happy.” Bobby sounded sad. “And I feel like I made you unhappy.”

Jody didn’t know what to say to that. “Unhappy isn’t the word. I guess… confused.”

Bobby closed his eyes and let out a tired sigh. “I’m just getting the hang of this.”

“I don’t understand what getting the hang of this has to do with you flirting with another guy when you’re out with me.” Jody heard the anger in his own voice. “Sorry. I’m not trying to be one of those clingy guys, nor do I want to fight with you, but I’m too damn old to play games with you.”

“Really? Isn’t not answering my texts playing games?” Bobby’s question and tone were reasonable, much to Jody’s chagrin.

“Yes,” Jody said, slumping down onto the couch again. “Sorry about that.”

“We apologize to each other too much.”

              “Seems like it.”
Does that mean this just isn’t working?

Bobby sat next to Jody. “So you know; I didn’t take the guy’s number.” At Jody’s incredulous expression, Bobby continued, “I know I took it, but I didn’t take it. I put it in my pocket because I wasn’t thinking, but I threw it out on the way to the subway. It was flirting, though.”

“I guess I thought…. No. I was being dumb and you shouldn’t have had to come to me. This was my bad. I shouldn’t have been a jerk. Not like we’re exclusive.”

“That’s the thing, though. You want to be, right?”

Jody didn’t know if that was a trick question. But he thought honesty was best here. “I don’t think I could keep on like we have been. You’re great. I love being with you and I feel like we’re getting close. But it’s hard to just let it go when I see you with another guy and realize you might take him up on the offer because I haven’t told you it’d hurt me.”

Bobby put a hand on Jody’s knee, warming him to his core as he smiled at Jody. “I realized Saturday that I’ve not even really looked at another guy since we started hanging out. Longer than that, even. Since we started talking at the bookstore, months ago. I never really wanted a relationship in my life before. But I’m sitting there watching all the couples at my family’s party the other night and in my gut I just wished you were there and that I could call you mine.”

              “Oh,” Jody said, dumbly.

Bobby chuckled. “I know I’m slow on the uptake and I probably should talk rather than just think things sometimes, but the last few months have been great so… I’d not mind if we were an actual item.”

Jody tingled all over, pleasure zipping through him at the words. But… “Bobby, I’d like that too, but….”

Bobby frowned. “Are you worried about the closet thing? Because I finally told my mother.”

              “You did what?”

“Well, I didn’t tell her I was seeing you, but I told her I was seeing a man.”

“How’d that go?” Though Jody could hardly care at the moment, because that had been one of his biggest problems moving forward with Bobby, and now it was gone.

“As well as could be expected.” That didn’t sound very good, but Bobby shrugged. “All I know is, it was the first step to getting my shit together. I came out, and have been playing catch up. I stalled at a certain point. I’m ready to… move on. Maybe grow up… Well, a little.” He smirked, so sexy. “And I’m hoping maybe with you. If you’ll have me.”

“Only if you’ll forgive me for being so neurotic the other day.”

Bobby rubbed Jody’s leg. “Hey, we’re old enough to know what baggage is, right? We both got it. We gotta just get on with it, try to make the best of it. We may end up together another week; but hey, at least we tried.” Bobby seemed surprised at himself.

“Well, Mr. Gugino, that was almost romantic.”

“Romantic enough to get me blown?”

Jody guffawed. “And there goes the romance.”

“I’m just sayin’,” Bobby drawled in an over-exaggerated Brooklyn accent. Jody rolled his eyes and pulled Bobby on top of him, opening his legs to let Bobby settled in there as their lips met for a heady kiss.

“The suit alone was going to get you blown,” he said, shoving Bobby’s jacket off. “But saying you want to be exclusive is gonna get you some ass.” Bobby growled into Jody’s mouth, attacking with lips and teeth and tongue.

The moment felt so right, his body shaking with a need. He didn’t know if he’d ever felt such desire for someone. Bobby’s smell, the taste of his kisses, the rasp of his stubble, all combining to make Bobby the physical manifestation of Jody’s dream man. But his big heart and his sense of humor, his ability to put his macho shit aside and admit to being insecure, were the reasons Jody couldn’t manage to push the big guy away. Not for good, not yet. Maybe anyone else would be easier to be with, but Jody had the feeling Bobby was worth waiting for.

Jody pushed Bobby up. “To the bed.” Bobby stole another kiss, but nodded and made his way quickly to the bedroom. When Jody stepped in, Bobby’s cock was out; he was unbuttoning his shirt. Jody didn’t give him a chance to do much, dropping to his knees and sucking Bobby into his mouth.

“Yes, Babe. So good,” Bobby said. He carded his fingers through Jody’s head as Jody bobbed up and down on Bobby’s thick cock. He tasted the bitter pre-cum leaking into his mouth and hummed as he fondled Bobby’s heavy balls.

“Jeez, Jo. You get me close so fast.”

Jody popped off Bobby’s cock. “You complaining?”

Bobby stared down at him, mouth open, breathing hard as his chest heaved, eyes half-lidded. “Only this time, because you promised me some ass.” He pulled Jody up. Jody was a little disappointed, wanting to blow Bobby longer, but the kiss Bobby gifted him with robbed him of thought. It was dirty and sloppy and Jody melted against Bobby.

When they separated, Bobby stared at Jody for a second. “I can’t be gentle with you this time, but I feel like that’s what I should do.”

“We can be gentle later,” Jody said, impatiently shucking his shorts.

“On your knees on the edge of the bed,” Bobby ordered, making Jody shudder. He did as he was told; sticking his ass out, practically purring when Bobby ran warm, calloused hands over the globes of his ass and separated them.

He let out a whimper when suddenly; Bobby’s tongue was on his hole. “Oh, fuck, Bobby.”

Bobby chuckled against his entrance and started flicking his tongue up and down. A couple times he spit, then buried his face, sticking his tongue in as far as the tip would go. Jody arched his back, grunting in pleasure. Nobody had ever eaten his ass, but even if they had, he had the feeling Bobby would be putting them to shame right about now. He felt his hole loosening, then Bobby’s tongue was joined by a finger which sank in with one quick motion. Jody nearly came right there as Bobby pressed down into his prostate, still licking his tongue around the rim of Jody’s hole.

“Gah. Fuck. Fuck me.” He’d meant that figuratively, but the filthy way Bobby laughed let him know he was in for it soon enough.

Bobby kept his finger going, biting Jody’s ass cheeks, and used his other hand to slowly stroke Jody’s cock. Jody didn’t know whether to fuck into Bobby’s fist or shove back on the intrusion. Everything felt amazing.

Bobby removed his finger and rolled Jody over. He was gone for a second, but reappeared, slicking up his condom-covered cock with lube. Jody could barely catch his breath. Bobby looked absolutely rakish, hair disheveled, shirt open, pants still on; but cock hanging out. It was an even bigger turn on that Bobby had been so hard for him that he hadn’t taken the time to strip. Jody leaned up and helped Bobby stroke

the lube on his cock.

Their eyes locked together as they stroked Bobby together. “I can’t wait to fuck you. You’ve got the best ass I’ve ever fucking seen,” Bobby said. He went to unbuckle his belt.

“No,” Jody said, stopping him. “Leave them on.”

Bobby’s nostrils flared and he shoved Jody back on the bed. He hooked one of Jody’s ankles and held Jody opened as he placed the head of his cock at Jody’s opening and pushed in. He was slow and considerate, both of them letting out loud groans as he breached and sank in to the hilt. He leaned down, wrapping a hand behind Jody’s head, pulling Jody up so they could kiss. The kiss was more tongue than anything, Bobby moving his cock in and out just the tiniest bit to help Jody’s body accept him.

“Fuck me,” Jody said into the kiss. And Bobby complied. He pulled back, holding both of Jody’s ankles up and wide-open before he started thrusting. The first couple were slow and measured, but then he started pounding, the skin of his balls making slapping noises as they struck Jody’s ass. Every thrust in made Jody’s eyes roll back.

Jody clenched, milking Bobby’s cock, loving the way it made Bobby throw his head back. They must have looked incredibly wanton; Jody still in his t-shirt, Bobby still half-dressed. To want each other so much was such a heady sensation.
