HERE, THEY ARE
getting ready to pump concrete into the forms that will make the walls of the foundation. I can barely fit the crane-arm of the pump truck into the frame.

THERE’S THE COTTAGE
up ahead. We’re stuck behind the Isuzu, at least until the driver gets impatient and pulls a U-ie. Then, we’re thrilled to have an unobstructed view of the action!

THE COTTAGE NEARS
the end of its journey: my driveway, where it will rest for the night. All traffic is stopped in both directions, and people are getting out of their cars to watch.

EGYPT CONDUCTS
one last inspection of the foundation and certifies its readiness.

happily married. We have taken down the picket fence and the arbor to open up the front yard and to show off that gorgeous deck.

MY OFFICE,
the right-handed version. By reversing my chair and Harry’s handmade desk a few days later, I feel much more comfortable, and in possession of a larger view.
