“So fucking beautiful. Ride me, Dani, show me how much you like the feel of my cock inside of you.”

She absorbed his words, and like an obedient mate, she took control and thrust harder, faster, until she was about to explode.

“I’m coming, baby. Come with me.” Bently pressed his finger through her tight rings, and Dani screamed her release as she lowered her face against his shoulder and bit into his skin. Bently did the same, biting her shoulder as he pumped his hips and then exploded inside of her.

They calmed their breathing and remained there until one of them had the energy to move.

Chapter 14

“Son of a bitch, Angus, I don’t like this one bit. We send Baher and Miele in there and the crew is gonna know that Task Force One is onto something,” Van stated.

“Who gives a shit? If the rogue is in there or any other guilty party, then we’ll smoke them out. There’s more were in there than human as is,” Angus stated.

“Hey, Quinn, any info on who the owner of Cysure Corp is?” Angus asked his brother, who sat in the back of the black truck typing away on the keyboard.

“Not yet but working on it. Whomever it is they really want to remain hidden.”

“I say we go in and check it out. Send in Baher, Miele, Adrian and Brady. You and I can take the back entrance,” Angus stated.

“Okay. Everyone knows what to do. Let’s move,” Van said, and they began to head out in various directions and enter the club.

“There are spotters on the rooftop,”
Vanderlan chimed in through their newly established telepathic link.

“Thanks. Can you handle it?”
Van asked.

“Give me five minutes,”
Vanderlan replied, and Van looked at Angus.

“Spotters on the roof. Vanderlan is handling it.”

“Fuck, tell me it isn’t so? You hear him in your head, too?”

Van nodded.

“You’re going to have to let me in on some of those hidden vampire secrets,” Angus teased.

“Be happy he’s one of the good guys.”

“I’m happy I’m not mated to the same woman as a bloodletter.” Angus teased.

Tell him, I heard that and payback’s a bitch.”

Van chuckled. “He said payback’s a bitch.”

“You need to learn to not repeat in your head what other people are saying.”

“What fun would that be?”

“There’s our cue. Let’s move.”

The music was blasting and the club was crowded as Baher, Miele, and Randolph made their way around the place. “I don’t like this. We’ve got people looking us up and down,” Randolph stated to his brothers.

“Let’s hit the side door and get out of here.” Miele led the way. Through their mind link, they informed their brothers.

As they exited the building, they heard some commotion to their left. Just then a set of five men, wolves from the scent of them, approached.

“What are you doing around here?” one asked.

“What’s it to you?” Baher asked.

“Nothing because you’ll be dead in a minute.” A series of growls echoed around them as numerous wolves attacked at once.

It was mayhem as the men defended themselves against an attack. On the rooftop, Vanderlan was fighting his own battle with a group of wolves. Van and Angus joined him moments later.

In the distance, they heard a larger, deeper growl, and then Baher saw Brady and Adrian shift into wolves and chase one wolf down the alleyway.

It was an intense moment, and as the fighting ceased, both the Fagan and the Fennigan Pack came out on top.

“Is everyone okay?” Van asked as he, Vanderlan, and Angus came down from the rooftop.

“I think I’ve got a problem,” Miele stated. He lay on the ground holding his chest as blood seeped from his wound.

“Fuck. It didn’t heal when you shifted?” Van asked, kneeling down on the ground near his brother.

“Silver,” Miele whispered as he began to shake.

“Let’s get him out of here,” Angus stated, and they quickly lifted Miele up and headed back to the truck.

Dani held on to Bently as they waited by the front door. They knew that Miele was injured and the men were headed this way. Dani called Margo, who told her what to do.

As the men arrived, carrying a very pale-looking Miele into the house, she covered her mouth and gasped. In her experience as a homicide detective, she had seen many dead bodies and many victims before their last dying breath, and Miele didn’t look like he would survive. Something in her leaped into action.

“Get him to the bedroom down the hallway.”

Van carried Miele in that direction.

She followed with the others close behind her.

Van set his brother down on the bed and pulled the cloth from his shoulder.

“It’s silver, Daniella.” Van swallowed hard.

“Shit. I’m not sure what to do. Margo tried to explain, but then she said it would just happen so I’m scared,” Dani admitted.

Vanderlan placed his hands on her shoulder. “You can do this. It’s why the gods have chosen you for us. You are our protector, too.”

She took a deep breath and stared at Miele. There was so much blood and a stench of something that had to be silver lingering around the room.

“Do you smell that?” she asked, and they shook their heads.

“None of you can smell that scent? It’s familiar, yet I’m not sure where I recognize it from.” Dani dismissed that thought to focus on Miele.

She brushed the hair from his forehead and leaned down closer to him.

“Miele, I have you. I am here now.” He moaned then tried to open his eyes. In his mind, he spoke to her.

“Dani, I love you. If I die, know that I love you.”

“Shh... now, don’t be silly. I’m here, baby. I’m going to try to help you.”

Dani placed her hands over the sticky, smelly stuff that oozed from his wound. She allowed the sensations to travel through her hands, up her arms, and into her heart.

Miele. She imagined him in her mind. Cute, light brown hair, hazel eyes as he stood by the stove cooking, trying to get dinner ready. He was nonstop, always on the move. He lived to please and provide for his brothers and for her.

I love you. Return to me whole.

She felt the vibrations travel up her arm, the poison from the silver went through her blood and behind her. Vanderlan gasped then grabbed onto her.

“What is it? What’s wrong?” Van asked as the others gathered around.

“I feel it. She’s taking in the silver and the pain. Holy shit, it’s incredible and weakening even to me.” Vanderlan slowly lost the fight to stand and lowered to one knee. He kept his hand on her leg as she continued to heal Miele. A few seconds later and Miele’s eyes popped open, he gasped for air as Dani lowered to the floor. She laid her head on his lap and closed her eyes as she tried to gain her strength back.

“Dani? Are you okay?” Randolph asked as he bent down next to her. She opened one eye.

“Miele, is he okay?” She was concerned for him.

“He’s awake,” Van stated next to her.

“Good. I just need to rest a bit.”

Vanderlan stood up and shook the fatigue from his body. “That was amazing.” Randolph lifted Dani up, carried her to the other side of the bed, and laid her down beside Miele.

“She’s a healer, and if the gods sent her to us as our mate, I fear there are more times like this to come,” Van stated, and Bently nodded.

“So it was definitely Task Force One. We have the surveillance video. They also have been checking into the company Cysure Corp,” Dismar told Marfur as he met with him at his office.

“That is not good. They could figure out our plan to take over their territory.”

“Exactly, Marfur. So when will this other rogue and his crew be ready to attack?” Dismar asked.

“Everything is in motion. We have been doing some investigating of our own. It appears that Detrix caught the scent of a human female. She is the one we’re looking for. I’ve got men locating her now and men following Detrix. If we have to take Detrix out ourselves, then we will,” Marfur stated confidently.

“Well, at least one of the Task Force members is dead. They also gained some help from the Fennigan Pack. I don’t know why they can’t stay out of the country and leave us to our business,” Dismar stated.

“Not sure, but I’ll get an update on their location soon.”

Just then, Marfur’s phone rang.

He spoke a few moments then disconnected the call.

“Well, the one Fagan Pack member is still alive. We haven’t heard differently.”

“What? How could that be?”

“Not certain, but interestingly enough, Detrix is nearby the location and the woman he is after is staying there. By the activity, my men believe she may be their mate.”

“Son of a bitch! Who is she?” Marfur asked.

“They’re working on her name. She’s a detective with the police department. She was working the case.”

“She’s more important than their mate. She has something that is appealing to Detrix.”

“But what?”

“Catch her and we’ll find out.”

“This might not be so easy. If she’s their mate, then the chances of taking her are slim to none.”

“Try it. Succeed in it, because we need to ensure our plan pulls through.”

“Dani,” Miele whispered as he caressed his mate’s cheek gently, moving the hair from her cheeks. She looked like an angel sleeping next to his side. Considering that he was shot with silver, he wasn’t in much pain. He felt more bruised than anything serious, and he owed that to Dani.

He caressed her lower lip, absorbing her perfect features. Her lips were pink and plump, her chin firm, and her cheekbones high. She had come to mean so much to him instantly, and the fear of losing her caught hold of his thoughts.

I love you, Miele. Do not worry. I’m not going anywhere.”

He snuggled closer to her then pulled her against his side as he faced her. She wedged her thigh between his legs.

He leaned down and kissed her cheek and then kissed her lips. Placing his hand under her chin and against her neck, he tilted her up toward him so he could gain better access to her mouth.

She moaned against his tongue as he tasted her and made love to her mouth.

She slowly pressed her hips against his groin, and his cock hardened and grew with need to be inside of her.

He released her lips.

“I want to make love to you. I need to feel you. Take off your clothes.” He knew he sounded demanding and bossy, but he was doing everything he could to maintain control and not roll her to her back, rip her clothes from her body, and plow into her pussy.
