“Those two aren’t interested in
civilized dates. All they’re interested in is shacking up,” Jack said with
obvious disgust. “Thanks to the horny pair, Derrick and I aren’t allowed in New
Haven’s only bowling alley now, so, no, thank you.”

“You’re out of luck, then.”

“Jack, hate to interrupt your
chitchat, but aren’t you done paying for your pastries?” Derrick asked with a
frown on his face. When the powerful Beta first came to the pack, he wasn’t all
made of muscle. He was made of flab, like Al, but hell, did he work hard to get
in shape.

Contrary to popular belief and the
media, werewolves didn’t automatically lose all their body fat in exchange for
muscles. They weren’t immune to diseases and sicknesses either, so Al wished he
had Derrick’s determination.

If he worked hard at shaping his
body, would Terrence finally notice him? Even if he weren’t a fatty, Al doubted
he could win a wolf like Terrence with his dull and ordinary looks. He could
hope his personality would work for him, but what use was personality when
Terrence had his pick of other wolves in the pack? Al had a feeling Terrence
had fucked most of the unmated wolves in the pack—except Al. He wasn’t sure if
should feel special or insulted.

Al glumly counted Jack’s purchases
and handed him the bag.

“Why? Can’t stand the smell of baked
goods you can’t eat?” Jack threw back at Derrick, a mischievous look on his
face. Derrick groaned, but Jack only happily walked over to him and curled his
arm over his. “Grumpy wolf, want me to make you something when we get home?”

Cheeks slightly pink, Derrick
ignored him and nodded to Al and Terrence. “Terrence. Al.”

Al gave a friendly wave. He liked
that Derrick always acknowledged everyone, even the weaker wolves in the pack.
Al wasn’t so sure about Terrence, but then again, Terrence seldom acknowledged
anyone.

“It isn’t true, you know.”

Al nearly jerked at the unfamiliar
voice.
Holy shit, did Terrence just talk
to me?
He didn’t think he’d ever exchanged one entire sentence with
Terrence. Any string of words beyond “good day,” “pleasant weather,” or “any
loafs left” was a victory in Al’s estimation. He wanted, yearned, and craved
for the other wolf for years, so he had to get his head screwed on tight.

“W-what?”
Al asked, cursing his nervous stutter.

Terrence didn’t speak for a few
seconds, and it made Al think he imagined the acknowledgment in the first
place. Terrence’s penetrating and unnerving gaze was real though. Those eyes
didn’t just rake him over. They seemed intent on crawling underneath his skin
and unearthing his soul.

He finally spoke. “I see you, Alvin
Heinz. You’re far from ordinary, and I don’t mind if you’re a little
comfortably shaped.”

“What?” Al was definitely
daydreaming, because he was sure Terrence didn’t just call him by name. How
could he? Al always stayed in the background during meetings. The pack knew him
as “the guy who brought leftover bread,” but he didn’t really think any of them
bothered asking his name. Even Carlos, the Alpha, called him “the bread man.”

Just to make certain he was indeed
dreaming, he reached toward Terrence and pinched his cheek. Al felt
weather-roughened skin and
a slight
stubble under the
pads of his fingers and swallowed nervously. Terrence’s scent swept over him,
stronger than ever.

“What are you doing?”

Al jerked his hand back at the
sudden defensive and testy voice.
“Nothing.
I’m
sorry,” he said quickly, and then cursed silently at himself again. Apologizing
to someone over something that wasn’t his fault wasn’t him. “Actually, I’m not
sorry at all.”

“Excuse me?”

“You come into my shop every Monday
to buy bread and never once replied to any of my greetings. Would it kill you
to return a simple ‘good morning’?” Alvin demanded, crossing his arms. Being a
much shorter and rounder man than the wall of muscle in front of him, he began
to feel a little daunted, but Al refused to give way.

“I believe it’s wiser not to speak
unless it’s necessary.”

“Yeah?
I
guess actions speak louder than words, huh.” Al grabbed the loaf Terrence was
holding and was about to bag it when he suddenly found himself being dragged
over the counter.

Terrence’s usually indifferent face
was alive with sudden emotion, like a statue come to life. His dark brown
irises were beginning to turn amber at the corners.

Oh
gods, I just angered his wolf,
Al thought with rising panic. He tugged at
his own wolf, but the stubborn beast only shook its great head, refusing to
help him.
Damn, silly beast.

“Uh, Terrence,” Al said, staring at
the corded muscles on Terrence’s arm gripping his shirt. It was highly
inappropriate to be this horny so suddenly, and he thanked the gods, fate, and
whichever deity watching over him that Terrence couldn’t see the growing bulge
in his jeans.

“Actions speak louder than words.”
Terrence’s words raised goose bumps all over his arms.

Something crawled over Al’s spine,
a strange mix of fear and excitement. Fear won over and Al batted at the hand.
He wasn’t a fighter and usually used his weight as an advantage, but the
dominant wolf was beyond inhuman strong and wouldn’t let go of his shirt.

Al shut his eyes at the expectation
of violence, of Terrence’s fist colliding with his flesh or his shifting claws
bursting from his knuckles. His imagination went wild—and he had one hell of an
imagination, especially when it involved Terrence.

The last thing he expected was a
collision of lips. The onslaught left him stunned.

“You want me, don’t you, little
baker?” Terrence asked, his breath tickling against Al’s skin.

“No,” Al protested.

“Don’t lie to me. I could smell
your arousal from the moment I entered the bakery.”

If those words didn’t send Al over
the edge, the next did.

“I don’t mind bending you over and
fucking you to prove you wrong, but I’m warning you, I don’t take mates. Never
will.”

Al whimpered, embarrassingly aware
of his excited cock. It unexpectedly stung when Terrence said he didn’t do
mates, but Al wasn’t surprised. “Okay. I get that.”

“Good. Come with me.” Terrence let
go of him.

For a while, Al remained slumped
over the counter, staring at him. Finally his mouth worked. “What?”

“I said, come. Unless you want me
to fuck you over the counter for
all the
world to
see?”

Chapter Two

Al scrambled to his feet. He had a
feeling the Beta wasn’t joking, because he didn’t think Terrence even knew how
to make a joke. “Give me a few minutes. I need to lock up.”

He took longer than necessary to
flip over the We’re Closed sign and locked the front door.
Gods, what was he doing
? It was so unlike him to simply walk away
from work for a quickie. Spying Terrence waiting by his monster of a bike with
his arms crossed made his decision for him.

Damn,
the man looked
fine
.

“Ready?”

“Yeah.
Where are we going?” Al fumbled with the spare helmet Terrence tossed at him.

“My place.”

Al positioned himself awkwardly
behind Terrence, instantly aware of the solid wall of muscles his arms wrapped
around. Terrence’s proposition still felt surreal to him. His own wolf
practically jumped out of his skin, overtly eager to feel the press of another
wolf. It would’ve yipped with glee if it could.

Come to think of it, Al couldn’t
even remember the last time he even had a date. His pants suddenly felt two
sizes too small, and he couldn’t wait to get out of them. He could feel his
balls drawing tightly against him and his cock heavy with need.

“Fuck. Are you always this horny?”

“I’m not always horny,” Al
protested.

“You forgot I can smell you.”

Beginning to have second thoughts,
Al uncomfortably shifted his arms around, but Terrence only gripped his arm.

“It wasn’t an insult. It’s just so
fucking sweet how you’re so hot for me.”

His face burning, Al was glad
Terrence couldn’t see his expression. Terrence’s attitude annoyed him to hell.

Terrence directed the bike to an
apartment complex at the borders of New Haven. Peering at the stunning view of
the woods and mountains the apartment spread before him, Al could understand
why Terrence would pick this location.

“Come.”

At the delicious authority in that
voice, Al turned to follow Terrence into the apartment building. On their way
out of the elevator, they spied another pack member.

“Pat, doing
good
?”
Terrence asked, his tone casual, but Al could somewhat sense the caution there
too.

The dark-haired, heavyset man in
the faded leather jacket blinked, rubbed at his face, and looked at them. He
nodded to Terrence curtly before shuffling into the elevator.

If Al had to describe Pat Bolton,
he was more ghost than man, unable to fully process the reality in front of
him. After his mate died, Pat looked like all life had been leeched out of him.
Al couldn’t blame him. Werewolves mated for life, so he couldn’t really
comprehend how the man continued living.

“How’s he really doing?” Al asked
Terrence quietly.

“He has his good days and his bad,”
Terrence replied.

There was emotion there, Al was
sure, but didn’t push at it. Like Terrence, Pat had been one of the pack’s
enforcers. Mostly they just left him alone these days, hoping he’d eventually
snapped out of his grief and move on.

“I didn’t know you guys stayed in
the same building.”

“We didn’t. Carlos asked me to keep
watch over him.”

Al followed Terrence to the
apartment at the end of the corridor. Before he had a chance to scrutinize the
tidy space, Terrence’s powerful hands were on him.

“Wait,” Al protested, biting his
lip.

“I want to see all of you, little
baker, and you will take off your clothes for me,” Terrence growled. His easy
confidence and the unabashed hunger in his gaze were enough for Al to melt on
the spot.

“Okay, but I’m warning you. I’m not
exactly your usual type, being flabby and all,” Al muttered, averting his eyes.

“What the fuck are you saying?”
Terrence grabbed his chin. “Look at me when I’m talking to you, Alvin.”

Al did. The intensity of Terrence’s
gaze told him the last thing Terrence cared about was his weight and lack of
confidence.

Feeling bolder, Al took hold of the
hand on his face. Terrence blinked when Al directed two of his fingers into his
mouth and began to suck them.

“You like the taste of me, little
baker?” Terrence asked, sounding pleased. He took control, sliding a third
finger in for Al to suck. “I can’t wait to see those lips wrapped around my
cock.”

Al groaned around Terrence’s
fingers. Withdrawing them, Terrence palmed the bulge of his pants again. One
single word was enough to undo Al.

“Strip.”

Al obeyed. His clothes fell off him
in a flurry, but Terrence’s hungry expression didn’t change. If possible, his
desire grew darker. Amber bled into his irises and his hand gripped a handful
of Al’s hair.

Liking the slight pain, Al went on
his knees. He knew what Terrence wanted, and knowing this was a one-time thing,
Al intended to give Terrence the best blowjob he’d ever received. Al decided
he’d lick his wounds another time.

Al pulled the zipper down, and
Terrence’s impressive length sprung free, making his mouth water.

“Suck me, little baker. Show me
what a good little cocksucker you are.” Using his hair as a handle, Terrence
guided him forward.

Al stabbed his tongue at the base
of Terrence’s cock, slowly and deliberately licking his way to the tip. He used
one hand to caress the bottom of Terrence’s shaft, while he worked his mouth on
the cock head. A dribble of
precum
leaked out, and Al
licked the bulbous head with a flourish, making Terrence groan with
appreciation.

“You’re so good at this, little
baker, and the sight of you kneeling and naked while you suck me is amazing.”

Holy shit.

Al faltered at his task, nearly
coming at those words. When he glanced up, he found Terrence’s unerring smile.
Hell, Al didn’t think he ever saw the man smile before. “You said that on
purpose,” Al muttered darkly.

“Get on with your work, little
cocksucker.” Terrence showed his teeth, gently nudging his cock to Al’s lips.

Annoyed now, Al vehemently upped
his game and opened his jaws to deep throat him. At first he wasn’t certain if
Terrence’s shaft could even fit. Terrence rumbled happily above him, and Al
slowly sheathed Terrence’s cock with his mouth until the cockhead touched the
back of his throat.

“Damn,” Terrence said above him
breathlessly.

Al withdrew slowly, and when his
lips barely lingered on the last few wet inches, he dived in again, going
faster and more smoothly.

Groaning appreciatively, Terrence
fisted his hair even tighter. The pain sent a slight shiver through Al, making
his own cock harden.

“Take all of me in, Al,” Terrence
murmured. His body grew still, and Al knew he’d reached his peak.

Guiding his head urgently back to
his cock, Terrence thrust deeply into Al’s waiting mouth one final time before
his body tensed and exploded. Al worked hard to catch all of
the
cum
, but some of it spilled over his lips and dribbled down his chin and
chest.

“Fuck, Al. That was amazing.”
Terrence stared down at him, amber nearly swallowing all of his irises.

That bestial look didn’t frighten
Al. If possible, he was hornier than ever.
