He hurried out and down the stairs
through the palace, greeting the night watch guards as they stood vigilant.

With silent nods they gave a greeting
as he passed. It was not uncommon for him to take late night or early morning
walks.

Tuthal had one destination in mind.
Steadfast and determined, he hurried towards the village. Draped in shadows
another figure stood. Tuthal paused to bow low in respect.

"Father," Tuthal greeted,
his tone hushed.

"Aye, my son, I see you had the
vision."

"Aye, it is certain, she is the
one." He didn't need to ask any question they both knew, they both understood.

Tuthal slowed his pace and together
they reached the outer village. The stags in the stable yard stirred as they
swept past. Tuthal used his staff to wrap on the door then waited patiently for
it to swing inward.

Melor, tall and proud stood, a sword
at the ready.

"Tuthal?" Melor glanced in
confusion at Tuthal's father. "What business do you have at this hour?"

"We have had the same vision, my
boy," his father began.

"Darkness is coming and all of
Kell stands on the precipice of falling, but only one will shine bright against
the dark. One with a heart pure, heart brave," Tuthal finished.

"I am ready to defend my land,"
Melor growled, misunderstanding their words.

"You are mistaken. It is not you
but your daughter who will be our champion. You must train her in the way of
the warrior, keep her pure and never tell her or your protected why, until it
is time."

"My daughter? Surely, you mean…not
Blossom?"

"Aye, she is the one,"
assured Tuthal.

"Only her light will be able to
save our kingdom."

I am a full time mother and part time writer. I live in a small
country town in Victoria, Australia. I have been writing ever since I learned
to read, and almost endlessly drifting off into the fantasy world of my
imagination.

Thankfully, I have a great group of supporting writer friends, a
husband and three, currently, small children who help keep me grounded.
