Janet’s heart tripped as he picked her up again and carried her over the threshold. Setting her down carefully inside, he kissed her, his mouth warm and perfect. “I do,” he said against her lips.

“Me, too,” she agreed. “Now take off your clothes.”

“Hold it right there, missy. You can be in charge again later, but I’m in charge right at the present moment, and I’m keeping my duds on until I’m good and ready to shuck ‘em off.” He paused. Then he grinned. “And now I’m ready.”

As they tumbled to the bed, Tom’s clothes dropping to the floor, Janet said, “You’re a good honeymoon planner. And for the record, I’d fly coach for you. Any day.”

“But I know my girl,” said Tom with a laugh. “She’s first-class, all the way. Hey! You left knitting needles in the bed?” He fished out her scarf from under the sheet. “That coulda been dangerous in our current condition.”

“Sorry, darling. It’s my equivalent of crumbs in the bed.”

“Boy, these sheets are fine, ain’t they? Soft.” He stretched out, his limbs reaching from the top to the bottom of the bed. Janet ogled her husband for the umpteenth time.

“Darling,” she purred. Tom was the most delicious kind of naked she’d ever seen. “I can see why Bruce and Wilma have a good marriage. All this nakedness might be good for the constitution.”

“Oh, God,” said Tom, shutting his eyes. “Now I’m thinking about Bruce naked. You can’t do that to me.”

“Open your eyes and look at me instead, then.” Janet’s voice shook, just the littlest bit. The most important man, the very
best
man in the world was about to take her in his arms again, and that was all she’d ever need.

Tom’s eyes were brighter than stars, and that brightness was for her. She was the richest woman in the world.
