No danger threatens. That is the ship bringing Axl and Gudrin and the bride gifts for Sigourney.”

He flew around the ship and dipped his head in salute. Solus and Ness did the same to the surprise of the crowd on the shoreline. The three dragons led the way into port, and the great ship followed and drew alongside the quay at Balintore on the Moray Firth. The dragons landed and assumed their man-shapes. Braemuir, flanked by Lachlann and the huge Ness, turned and addressed the crowd.

“There is no threat from this ship. It comes bringing the parents of Lachlann of Braemuir’s mate, and her bride gifts. Sigourney is from the land of the Norsemen and has mated with Lachlann. This will mean peace for our lands, and a close alliance with Axl Hillesland will be good for both peoples. I ask you to extend the Highland welcome to these, our welcome guests.”

Axl and Gudrin, dressed in the traditional dress, not the skins and helmets the people associated with their warrior ancestors, descended from the ship. The three warriors moved forward. Lachlann embraced them both.

“This is my brother, Braemuir of Braemuir. Brother, let me present Axl and Gudrin Hillesland, parents of my beloved mate, Sigourney.”

Braemuir stepped forward. He held out both hands to Axl and kissed Gudrin on the cheek. Then he stepped back as Ness came forward. Ness towered over them all.

“My lord of Ness, let me present Axl and Gudrin Hillesland.”

Ness took both of Axl’s hands, and then he, too, kissed Gudrin. There was an audible sigh from the crowd assembled. The five withdrew and allowed the people to approach and touch the once-feared longship. Soon they were chattering and exclaiming over the carving and painting of the ship. All fear had dissipated.

The dragon mating took place two days later. Lachlann had told Sigourney what to expect, but she was very nervous. It was not like what she had been told about in her own country, and she wondered if she would be able to manage to do what was expected of her. She didn’t want to disappoint her mate or disgrace her family. Braemuir and Eilidh had invited as many of their friends and family as could manage to get there in the short time available. Gudrin and Axl had opted to retain human-form and were arrayed in their traditional dress.
Then the
sky began to lighten. On the horizon streaks of rose and gold could be seen in the duck-egg blue vault of the sky. Another perfect Scottish morning was beginning. It wasn’t just any morning
. I
t was a dragon mating. It wasn’t the summer solstice because
Feasgar
was not the Clan chieftain, nor was he the heir now. Braemuir had two children, and to judge by the glow in Eilidh’s cheeks, there was another one on the way.

Braemuir as Solus
and
Eilidh as Ceanag, the dragon name given to her by Braemuir at their mating,
flanked
Sigourney. They escorted her from the Caisteal and waited while she dropped to her knees
. She
remained
motionless
on her knees
,
her wings stretched out on either side of her.
Feasgar
lowered his huge head, and he twined his neck with hers. Then he raised his head and emitted a bellow of pride and challeng
e. As expected, there was no answering challenge. No dragon disputed his right to his mate
. He mounted her from behind, soothing her with his mind. She
fought to
remain submissive, her head bowed, as he took the back of her neck carefully in his huge jaws to hold her still. He penetrated her, and she squealed
with pleasure
as the huge organ thrust into her. He filled her
. H
e was
hot and swollen
,
and he
felt her reaction as
she
experienced the sensation caused by
all the ridges of his cock as it entered her. The physical pleasure combined with the mental stimulation were so intense that she
knew she wouldn’t
be able remain still.
Sh
e was right. She tried to move
. S
he tried to rise to meet hi
s thrusts as she would have been expected to do in her own land. She fought the impulse, but she was losing the battle until her mate came to her aid.

No, you must remain still,”
he said, their minds bound as one again.
“This is our custom, and this is how it must be.”

His powerful hindquarters pumped his erection in and out of her. She gave up all attempts to move as she let him fuck her. She let her mind tell him that he had been right. The pleasure she felt, gathering low in her belly, made the human orgasms he had given her pale into insignificance. As the pleasure swelled, flowed along her bones and veins, her blood sang. She felt her mind enmeshed with his. She knew he felt it, too. She experienced
his
pleasure, as well as her own, as he shared hers. She loved him, and he loved her. He desired her, and she wanted him. He was taking his pleasure, but he had driven her to the edge of madness with the pleasure he bestowed on her.

“My mate, this is too much. How can I bear such pleasure?”

Then, before he could answer her or reassure her, it was too late. Together, joined in mind and body, their climax claimed them. His hot seed spurted from his dick, and streams of the hot fluid flowed deep inside her. His bellow of triumph as he claimed his mate echoed over the Cairngorms. Lachlann of Braemuir had fulfilled the saga and found his life-mate in the land of ice and snow.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I was born in South Yorkshire in England and moved to south west Scotland more than twenty years ago. I have three grown up children, two of whom have families of their own. I retired from teaching a few years ago and spent my time reading, sewing, cooking and gardening. I decided that there ought to be more to retirement than that.

Reading has always played a large part in my life and the house is full of books. Since my youngest son challenged me to write a novel of my own, and I wrote
Initiation
, book one in the
Prometheus in Chains series, writing has taken over my life. It has been like a roller-coaster ride and mostly a very pleasurable one at that. When I sent off my first book to Siren I had no idea what I was setting in motion. I have made many good friends, some readers and some fellow authors. Writing has certainly changed my life.

I believe the world has enough sadness in it and my characters will always get their HEA even if the road is rocky.

I would like to thank Christine for my lovely covers and my editor, Amanda, for all her help and encouragement.
