The moment he felt himself ready to crest, he pulled out of her mouth, released her hands, and shifted from her body. The look she gave him was both bewildered and hurt.

“Did I do something wrong?” she asked. “It sure seemed like you were enjoying it.”

“That’s an understatement. But this first time, when I come, I’m going to be inside your pussy. I’ll save your mouth for later.”

He grabbed his wallet from his pants and pulled out a condom, deftly rolling it on while he talked and doing his best to keep himself together.

She gave him a sexy smile. “You have a lot of confidence in yourself.”

“With good reason.” He grinned. “You’ll be eating those words later.” He winked. “Or something else.”

Then he was back on the bed, kneeling between her legs, spreading them and bending them back. He positioned himself at her entrance, and with one thrust filled her completely. Oh, sweet Jesus. He thought he’d died and gone to heaven. She had the hottest, tightest, sweetest pussy ever to hug his cock. He closed his eyes, took in a deep breath, and let it out slowly. And took them both for a long, sweet ride.

Her wet heat, her tight sheath, the hunger in her eyes that matched his were all like a match touched to a box of dry tinder. No matter how long he wanted this to last, this woman just shredded all of his control. Him, the ultimate Dom who was famous for self-discipline. He slid a hand between them to find her swollen clit, rubbing it in cadence with the movement of his hips. Just as the muscles in the small of his back tightened, along with his balls, she tensed around him, spasms rocketing through the walls of her cunt.

Now. God, now.

He drove harder into her once, twice, and took them both over the edge into a whirlpool of sensation, where there was nothing but the two of them and their shuddering bodies. He leaned forward and touched his forehead to hers, his cock still pulsing inside her in cadence with the vibrations throbbing in the walls of her sheath.

He stayed in that position with her, relishing the feel of her around him, the scent of sex that permeated the room, her own particular perfume that blended with everything. It took a long time for his heartbeat to regulate and his lungs to draw air easily. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d come that hard, everything drained from him, even his brain flipping its off switch. He wanted to stay like this forever, her slick flesh hugging him, her heart rate just as erratic as his. Who was he kidding? He wanted her bound and blindfolded, subjected to his every command. And he wanted her with a need he’d never felt before.

He also didn’t want to let her go, to let her out of his sight. And what the hell was that about? They’d just met. Well, sort of. Somewhere in there, all the emotions he kept such a tight lid on had eased out and wrapped around the two of them. How was that possible? They’d just met today. Well,
really
met. But she’d been in his system since that briefest of glances in Oklahoma. He wondered if it was the same for her.

Deliberately, Jake put all that out of his mind to concentrate on the here and now. He kissed her lightly, running his tongue over her lips before slipping it softly into her mouth. Then he forced himself to ease from her body and headed for the bathroom to dispose of the condom. When he came back into the room, she was lying in the same position, flush and rosy from sex, her lips still swollen. Her knees were bent, her legs slightly apart, and her juices still glistening on her pussy.

And just like that, after the most intense orgasm he could remember in forever, his dick began to harden again and his balls tingled. He didn’t walk back to the bed so much as stalk to it, aware that Trish was watching him with a sly look in her eyes.

“Are you planning to destroy me tonight?” He climbed onto the bed with her.

“I thought maybe it was the other way around.”

“Maybe we’ll destroy each other.” He pulled her body against him, his arm around her shoulders, her head on his chest. God, it had taken every bit of restraint he possessed not to go after her hammer and tongs. It would take him a lot more hours tonight to even take the edge off this intense feeling he had for her.

“Don’t you have to get home?” she asked.

“You think I have a curfew or something?” He chuckled. “As a matter of fact, I have a feeling there were a lot of strings being pulled tonight.”

She grinned. “Our friends at work. Like you said earlier?”

“Yup.” He stroked her arm. “I think your friend Liz was excited to do a little matchmaking.”

Trish shifted against him and sat up, a tiny frown wrinkling her forehead. “Listen, Jake, I don’t—”

“Relax. If that’s what she had in mind, I’ll have to thank her.” He tilted her face so he could see it. “But think about this. We’ve been like two magnets pulling toward each other since those few seconds in Oklahoma. This was meant to be, Trish. This was good between us, and I’m not nearly finished with you. Not tonight, not while you’re here.”

“And what happens when I leave?” There was a tone in her voice he couldn’t quite identify. Challenging? Questioning?

“Nothing says you have to go.” The moment the words left his mouth, he knew he’d said the wrong thing.

“This is my life, Jake.” She wasn’t smiling when she looked at him. “I’ve worked damn hard to get here. I’m not ready to give it up yet.”

“Hey, hey, hey!” He lifted his hands. “Not trying to do anything like that here. Just making a suggestion. Throwing it out there.”

“Well, you can just reel it back in.”

He sighed and tugged her against his body.

“Okay. Forget I said anything at all. Let’s just enjoy what we’ve got while you’re here, okay?”

“Okay.” She relaxed against him.

But could he make this work for two weeks without testing her willingness to submit? Already, he was feeling a bit restless in that area, but he certainly wasn’t about to walk away from these two weeks with Trish.

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here, okay?” She looked up at him. “We’ve just gotten started. We have two weeks to enjoy each other. Let’s make the most of it.”

But Jake had a feeling the end of two weeks was going to come too quickly for him, and he wasn’t sure what to do about it. Or these emotions Trish Barton stirred up in him.

Chapter Three

Jake slept later than he’d expected to, worn out by the most strenuous vanilla sex he could ever remember having. Then he couldn’t resist one last little quickie that put a big smile on his face.

“Go back to sleep,” he told her, giving her a last kiss. “I’ll call you later.”

“’Kay,” she mumbled, already snuggled back under the covers.”

When he pulled his truck into the parking area of the rodeo facilities, Reece was already working in the barn. He turned off the ignition and sat there for five minutes, wrapped in the feeling that still clung to him after the night in Trish Barton’s bed. Not just sexual satisfaction, although there certainly had been that. He knew the difference. Trish had given his heart a kick with the force of one of the ranch’s prize bulls.

Damn! How had one small woman inched her way into his heart in such a short time? He was sure she hadn’t been looking for anything heavy. She was only here for two weeks and didn’t seem as if she were interested in more than that. Not that they’d talked about it. In fact, not that they’d done much talking at all. But she had her life on the circuit and his was here.

Just enjoy it, idiot. Quit trying to make it so complicated.

Leaving her this morning had been difficult, but he had a lot to think about before he called her again. Already, he knew he’d want much more from her, so what did he do about that?

Trying to shut down his mind, he climbed out of the truck and headed for the barn. One of the hands was in the corral working the new cutting horse they’d just purchased. Beyond that stretched endless acres of pasture, and even in the distance, he could hear the sounds of the cattle and the shouts of the hands working them. He had his own chores to do. The brightness of the sun this early in the day promised another scorcher. They’d all be sweating by the time lunch rolled around.

Reece was repairing a halter when Jake walked in. He looked pointedly at his watch. “Keeping banker’s hours these days, Jake?”

Jake felt the heat in his cheeks. Damn. Grown men didn’t blush, did they?

“Sorry about that, boss. Got a little late start this morning.” He lifted his hat, raked his fingers through his hair, and set the Stetson back on his head. “Won’t happen again.”

“Oh, I have a feeling it might. And that’s not a problem. You work your ass off around here.” Then Reece grinned at him. “I take it you and the lovely Miss Barton got along just fine?”

“Yeah, we did.”

“Good. Then it was worth showing up late for work.” But he chuckled to show he wasn’t upset about it.

Jake stuck his hands in his pockets. “Boss, am I out of line if I ask you a question?”

Reece shrugged and hung the halter on a peg. “Depends on what it is.”

“I got the feeling last night that you and Katie and the Wrights were kind of maneuvering Trish and I together. Was I wrong?”

Reece gave him a long look. “If I said yes, would you be upset?”

“No. Not at all, as a matter of fact.”

“Good. The ladies will be pleased to hear it. They love matchmaking.” He lifted a length of rope from a bench and began coiling it. “I think it’s genetic.”

“Yeah, about that matchmaking.” Jake dropped on top the lid of a closed barrel.

Reece finished coiling the rope before he answered. “Something wrong with it? Sounds like you two had a great night.”

Jake rubbed his jaw, trying to figure out how to phrase what he had to say. If it weren’t for the fact that his boss knew about his sexual preferences and gotten him a membership at Rawhide, he wouldn’t be bringing this up at all.

“Come on,” Reece prompted. “Spit it out before we gather a crowd.”

“We have two problems here, as I see it. First…” He held up one finger. “Trish is only here for two weeks. Under normal circumstances, for me that would be great. We could both have some fun, enjoy each other, you know. But—”

“But you have a feeling she’s going to turn into more than a temporary distraction,” Reece guessed.

Jake nodded. This next was the difficult part. He was thankful he was able to discuss it with Reece. When he’d moved from Oklahoma, he’d asked the owner of the dungeon where he was a member to recommend a place in San Antonio. The shocker had been discovering his new boss was one of the owners. After they’d got past that first slightly uncomfortable discussion, Reece had given him a fully paid membership as a gift. That made his boss one of the few people who would understand what he had to say next. “The second thing might be more problematic.”

Reece studied him with sharp eyes. “You’re talking about the sex.”

“Well, yeah. I’ll tell you, Reece. Once you go forward in the lifestyle, it’s hard to go back.”

The other man nodded. “I hear you. Only a few people know this, but when I discovered that my interests lay in that direction and I tried to introduce Katie to it, she ran for the hills.”

Jake lifted an eyebrow. “No kidding? But you guys are models for the ideal couple.”

Reece nodded. “We broke up for a few years, and then the strangest of circumstances brought us back together. She’d actually gotten a job running the office for a club in Atlanta. We were looking for a new office manager here. Shocked the hell out of me when she called for an interview.”

“Was she already into D/s by then?”

“No, but she was curious enough about it to ask me to help her test the waters. The rest, as they say, is history.”

“So, you think if I eased Trish into it, the same thing might happen?”

Reece shrugged. “What can you lose? Try it a little at a time. Get a sense of how she reacts to things. I don’t know how strong your feelings really are for Trish after one night, but that’s got to play into it, too. The person you probably should be discussing this with is Liz. She and Trish are pretty tight.”

Jake rubbed his jaw. “I don’t know her that well. I’m not so sure I feel comfortable about approaching her.”

“She’s very approachable, easy to talk to, and will keep your confidence. Think about it. Meanwhile, I have two suggestions. Take a night off from Trish and go to Rawhide. Satisfy your needs. With the edge off, moving forward with her might be easier.”

“Good idea. What’s your other idea?”

Reece chuckled. “Better get to those bulls. They don’t take care of themselves.”

Jake smiled. “On it.”

As he walked to the second barn where the bulls were kept when they weren’t turned out in the small pasture, he mulled over everything Reece had said. He was too immersed in bondage to enjoy vanilla sex for any length of time. He knew that. Could he handle it for two weeks until Trish left, fortifying himself with visits to Rawhide?

And what about after she left? He was a pragmatic person who normally didn’t believe in things like this, but from the moment he’d connected with her in Oklahoma, he was convinced they would have something very special if only he could find her again. Well, he’d found her. Now what?

He stopped at the first stall, looking at the young bull he was about to start training.

“Maybe we could change places, Diego,” he told the animal. “This isn’t nearly as complicated for you as it is for humans, is it?”

The bull snorted, and Jake laughed.

“I couldn’t have said it better myself.

****

Trish sat on the top rail of the corral and watched Liz expertly working a young cutting horse, teaching him the moves and signals he’d need to know to do his job on a cattle ranch. Since the first time she’d watched her, Trish had been amazed at the other woman’s grace, her absolute control of the animal, the fluid way she and the horse moved together. The woman had the same talent with horses that barrel raced, too. Misty was a prime example of that.

It was nearly as blistering hot today as it had been yesterday, but at least a faint breeze blew through now and then to cool the drops of perspiration forming on her skin. She always wondered why Liz didn’t train all the horses in the big indoor air-conditioned arena she had. Liz had grinned and said, “Because cutting horses don’t get to work in air conditioning.”
