“It’s too big!” she squealed. Stephanie felt ready to burst, but she knew it was only that first inch that caused discomfort. After he passed her tight anal ring, she’d be flying high.

“Stephanie, behave.” Gray’s voice was deep with a menacing tone. He shoved the slick chubby into her ass. She gasped, her chest rising and falling as if she’d run a marathon. He smacked the side of her ass, creating an instant burn. “Take it!”

She willed herself to relax as he worked the fake cock deep into her ass. From her awkward position, she could watch all the action. Soon the black phallus was only a stump, the entire length impaled inside her.

“Touch yourself,” he said. She reached down and gently rubbed her engorged clit. When she attempted to close her legs, he held them open by the knees. “Dom’s filming this. It’ll be our entertainment this weekend.”

He left her sitting on the cold, hard floor with a dildo wedged in her ass, throbbing with the beat of her heart. The cuff bit into her wrist, and she dared not stop touching herself.

When he turned back around he held up two small silver clips. “The second I saw your beautiful tits, I imagined your nipples being clamped.”

“What? No.” Her nipples were delicate and ultrasensitive right now. She imagined torture like when she’d use her mother’s clothes pegs on her lips and ears until she couldn’t stand it. That was the foolishness of childhood. This was purposeful.

“You’ll like it,” he said, his voice low and steady. His confidence inspired her own. She braced herself as he cupped her breast and applied the clip.

She cried out. “It hurts.” He applied the second and held her free hand against her own pussy, not allowing her to remove them.

“Touch yourself.” Gray forced her to rub her clit, even impaling her with his own finger. The multitude of sensations from her ass, pussy, clit, and nipples suddenly brought her to the brink of orgasm. She was shocked the finish line was closing in so quickly. The nipple clamps were not unlike a spanking. It hurt at first but quickly morphed into an erotic pleasure that became addicting.

“Oh God, I’m close,” she said. “Hurt me.” Where did the words come from? She must be a masochist and not even realize it. He seemed to be expecting her to react in such an odd way, immediately rolling her around to her hands and knees. One arm was pulled up against the wall, so she braced her weight on one forearm, her ass in the air. The dildo bobbed in and out on its own.

“I knew it. Didn’t I tell you, Dom? All the good girls have a naughty streak.” Grayson proceeded to smack her ass, trapping the phallus inside her with the other hand. Each spank vibrated all the way to her cunt. As her breasts jiggled from the impact, the clips would work her nipples. She was on fire, burning from the inside out, desperate for release.

“Spank her harder. She needs pain to come,” said Dom. Was the answer that simple? Did she need this kind of domination just to meet her sexual peak? She’d always hated pain, but then again, she didn’t consider this typical pain.

“I want her to come around my cock.” Grayson dropped down behind her, securing her hip with a big hand. She heard a zipper go down and then felt the many inches of his cock invade her pussy. The dildo fought to bob out, but his body, pressed to her back, kept it in place. He battled for space with the toy, ramming his cock into her with force. She loved every depraved minute of it.

She knew Dom was filming the action, which aroused her even more. These men managed to release her pent-up libido, bringing out a side of her she barely recognized. When she came, she did so violently. She screamed aloud as her contractions went on and on and on. “Gray…” It was the first time she felt compelled to shout out a name, but it tumbled from her lips again and again. Stephanie was drunk and sober, dead, yet more alive than she’d ever been. When the waves of release finally eased up, Gray had uncuffed her and scooped her up into her arms before she could open her eyes. The toy dropped to the ground and the camera light was extinguished.

She was so exhausted. Gray whispered something in her ear as he carried her up the creaky steps, but she couldn’t make it out. She wrapped her arms around his strong neck and rested her head on his chest.
Please let this be more than just sex.

Grayson dropped a bundle of split logs against the side of the cabin. The weather was perfect for vacationing. Stephanie swung in the hammock he’d secured to two large oaks, and Dom was preparing his lures at the picnic table. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves above them, the scent of the nearby lake filling his lungs with each breath. This was the life for him.

Working nonstop got extremely stressful. His only release was working out, punishing his body until he couldn’t care about anything else. The past eight years had slipped by so fast that he didn’t realize how much he’d been hiding from life. His wife wasn’t coming back, but there was a very real woman within his grasp. Should he make that monumental move? Commit to a woman after his heart had been torn into a thousand pieces when his wife was killed? He vowed never to tamper with love again, but this girl…she tempted him like nothing else.

“Anyone hungry?” he asked. “I can start a fire.”

“Start one anyway,” said Stephanie. “I love the smell of burning wood.” So did he. Grayson prepared the fire pit with kindling and a small amount of accelerant. He couldn’t get over the quiet compared to the city. His ears practically hummed, with only the sounds of nature to absorb. It would take him a while before he learned to fully unwind.

Stephanie slipped out of the hammock and came over to join him, sitting on a downed log.

“So, you ever going to tell me about Saturday night?” he asked. He knew she was hiding something. The cop within him knew the second she’d lied to him, but he didn’t want to push her. When she trusted him enough, she’d tell him. Hopefully, before they returned home and he had to explain things to the captain.

“Not that again, please.”

“You’re scared about something.” He placed a couple larger logs onto the fire once the flames picked up strength. Then he stood up, brushed off his hands, and joined Stephanie on the log. “You have to understand that I’d never do anything to hurt you.”

She cocked an eyebrow.

“Nothing you didn’t want to happen,” he clarified.

“Even if I did, what difference would it make?”

“No secrets. Shouldn’t relationships start with honesty?” The world seemed to stop spinning after he spoke. He could hear Dom drop his lure and shift in his seat. Stephanie stared at him as if she’d heard wrong.

“A relationship? I thought this was just protective custody.” She worried her lower lip, waiting for a reply.

“You’ll always be in my protective custody. Know that.” He took a deep breath. “The relationship…that’s a bit more complicated.”

“Oh…” Her voice trailed off, disappointment stealing her zest.

He tilted her chin up. The rays of sun breaking through the forest canopy highlighted the red of her lips and depths of her dark eyes. “I’m trying, little one. This isn’t easy for me. In fact, it’s the hardest thing in the world.” He kissed the tip of her nose. She was adorable. He noticed features he hadn’t been aware of before, the soft smattering of freckles across her nose, the sexy gap between her front teeth, and the way she nibbled her lower lip when she was nervous.

Grayson Myers was falling in love.

Chapter Twelve

By Sunday night, Stephanie was used to the strange noises in the forest and no longer jumped every time a twig snapped. They’d barbequed fish earlier and now they were holed up in the cabin for another night in the wilderness. Grayson had a fire going in the cabin’s airtight stove, and he was just outside splitting some more logs to last the night. The lack of electricity had grown on her—no distractions, and pure intimacy.

She lay facing Dominic on a soft bearskin rug with the fire warming her back.

“I think my partner’s fallen for you, Steph.”

“Why do you say that?” The wood crackled behind her, the scent comforting on the cool night.

“I know him. I’ve never seen him so driven.”

“You’re wrong. It’s like pulling teeth getting Gray to commit to anything. I refuse to force myself on him. I’d rather be alone.”

“It’s not you.” He ran his hand along the outline of her body, down her arm and over her hip. “He’s been through a lot.” She could hear the compassion in his voice. These men cared about each other. They had a unique bond that was refreshing.

“Like what?”

“He lost his wife almost a decade ago now. That’s why he joined the force. He’s come a long way since I first met him, but he’s still a broken man.”

A widower? She thought he was incapable of love, but he’d loved and lost. She had a new respect for her dark-haired cop. There was more depth to him than she gave him credit for. “I had no idea.”

“You look like her,” he said. “Ever since you came into his life, I’ve seen life in his eyes for the first time. Like a rebirth.”

Her heart sank. Although she was happy he was improving, she now realized he only saw her as the ghost of his wife. She was a vessel, not Stephanie Vasquez, the person. She couldn’t replace his wife and wouldn’t want to.

The door thudded open, the scent of pine flooding the room. Grayson came inside with more wood, piling it up in the corner.

“You two look cozy,” he said. “Can I join in?”

She felt awkward now. Their threesome started out as a one-night stand, then became an extended sexual awakening. Now she wanted much more than sex. Knowing Grayson liked her because she looked like his wife made her feel small and cheap. Sex for pleasure would no longer be enough for her. With emotions now playing a heavy role, she’d rather lose them than keep them just for pleasure. She should have just bought a couple cats when she had the chance.

“Sure. We were just talking about you,” said Dom.

Stephanie was certain Grayson wouldn’t want his private life talked about behind his back. If he’d wanted her to know about his wife, he would have said something.

“Oh?”

Gray dropped down beside them, slightly out of breath. He smelled like mint and musk. She wanted to accept him into their fold, to feel both men’s hands all over her body. But she had to have some self-respect.

“I told her about Naomi. She has the right to know, Grayson.”

“And you’re the one to tell her?” His body stiffened and then he bolted to his feet. The air in the room filled with tension. “It’s not your place, Weston!”

“If you’re serious about her, you have to give a little. That’s called life, Grayson. It’s time you started living it.”

Gray paced the small room. Dom rose to a sitting position, watching him. Stephanie felt like an outsider, used, and ready to be discarded.

“This whole trip was a big mistake,” he said. His jaw clenched down hard, his fists tight at his sides.

Stephanie had had enough. She wouldn’t have them fight because of her. They were such good friends, and that shouldn’t change because of a woman. She got to her feet, feeling stiff and empty. “No,
I
shouldn’t have come.”

Without considering the consequences, only driven by emotion, she ran out of the cottage and into the night. Only the moon helped her find her way. She didn’t know where she was going or how she’d get home, but she couldn’t be near Dominic and Grayson for another minute. She was a third wheel when all she wanted was to belong.

“Stephanie!” called Grayson. She kept moving, weaving amongst the brushwood and trees, not wanting to be found. Her throat burned with sorrow, but she held it all in. “Stephanie!”

The man moved fast. She could hear his footsteps closing in behind her. It didn’t help that she was completely naked and the forest floor was full of painful obstacles without the light of day to guide her. The inevitable happened a few moments later. Grayson grabbed her forcibly around the waist, lifting her off her feet. For a moment, it reminded her of the gala when that animal wrapped his arms around her, forcing out her air. The fear of that night filtered into the forefront of her mind.

“Stop!” he commanded. “I won’t let you go. Just stop.” She continued to struggle. If he expected her to talk she’d lose the battle with her tenuous emotions.

“Leave me alone!”

“No!”

She kicked and fought, but his arms were like iron bars locked around her. His strength astounded her enough that she gave up, going limp.

“Listen to me, okay? I should have told you, but that doesn’t change anything between us.”

He spun her around and held her shoulders to keep her in place. “It changes everything.”

“How? I’m the same man. My past shouldn’t matter.”

“It does when you’re trying to replace your wife. I thought you liked
me,
not who I remind you of.”

“Fucking stay still.” He dropped his head, his air of strength diminishing as if carried away by the breeze. “I loved her, Steph. More than anything. I’ll never deny that. I also never expected to find another woman because none of them could compare to her. That’s why I never invest in any relationships. Sex I can handle. Love I can’t. Or couldn’t.”

“So what we had was just sex.”

“No, baby girl. Didn’t you hear me before? I’ve already told you.” He kissed her once on the lips. A real kiss. The one she’d been waiting for. “I love you.”

She swallowed the frog in her throat, her tears finally streaming down her face. Those were the words she longed to hear, but they’d only ever been said to her as an appeasement. She’d never known real love from a man—not even her own father.

“I thought maybe I was dreaming.”

“I’m very…possessive of you. Of
you
, not anyone from my past. You’ve opened my eyes to all the possibilities.”

Her heart melted. She wanted Grayson to own her, to love her, to give her the roots she’d always yearned for.

“What about Dom?”

“He’s not competition. And I know he wants to keep you, to make you ours. I’ve been the problem, but I’m not going to be a fool anymore.”
