"You can take your tools, and your muffins and your big blue eyes and
shove them up your ass!"

I sidestepped down the stairs, trying to pacify her. But it was no use. She followed me all the way to the door, berating me the entire time.

"You just go home and find someone else to use you player! You stay away from me, you hear me?"

I stood in the cold bright air, my clothes against my chest, my cock still hard as a rock.

Angelina stood in the doorway, her eyes bright and shining with unshed tears.

"And
don't call me Angie!"

Angelina

"Damn him! Of all the insufferable, low down, conniving-"

I was breaking down empty boxes, flattening them so they could be tied up and picked up by the trash and recycling company. I wasn't doing it properly though. I was smashing them.

The way he'd just tried to trick me into sleeping with him. He wasn't helping us to be nice. He had an agenda all along! And he hadn't been satisfied with kisses, no. Not even for a few minutes.

He'd been about to just- stick it in me!

I stopped, remembering the giant tent in his shorts.

A shiver went down my spine. That would be hard to ignore- or handle. I'd never been with someone of that size. Not even close.

Jackson Delancey was way, way above average.

I was sure he had women falling all over him, eager to get poked by his giant sausage. But not me! I was not some desperate woman who hadn't gotten laid in years!

Actually. Dammit, I was. It had been a long time. Too long. All the same, I might be a little bit lonely, but I was not desperate!

"Arrogant, cold-hearted, bastard!"

"Ange?"

I turned to see my sister standing in the archway between the living and dining room. She was leaning against the wall precariously.

"Oh no, did I wake you?"

She shook her head.

"Why aren't you using the chair? You are supposed to be resting!"

She stared at me, her eyes watering a little bit. I felt immediately contrite and drew her into my arms. I squeezed her, kissing her cheek.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell. I'm not mad at you."

"It's okay."

"It is not okay. And I am sorry. Come on, let's get you into your chair."

She looked resigned as I lowered her into it. I knew she hated having to use it. She had always been so strong. And now she had to rely on me for so much.

"Soon Case. We just need to get you a little stronger and then we will start building you back up again."

"I hate this chair, do you know that?"

"I know."

She wiped the back of her hand against her cheeks. She was crying. I hated seeing her cry.

"Sorry, I'm being stupid."

I shook my head vehemently.

"You're not stupid. You are wonderful and stronger and braver than anyone I know."

She gave me a wobbly smile that made her look like the adorable four year-old she used to be. I smiled at her and wiggled my eyebrows.

"I have an idea."

"You do?"

I nodded.

"Why don't we go see about adopting a dog?"

Chapter Eleven

Jackson

I drove home in my underpants, muttering to myself about outrageous, ungrateful women. To go from soft and willing in my arms to hissing like a polecat! It was unfathomable.

I was still in shock that she'd turned me down.

She hadn't just turned me down; the damn woman had cursed me to perdition!

And all this after I'd gone out of my way to make her writhe with pleasure, never mind helping her fix up her house! The woman was more than ungrateful- she was downright mean! I groaned, my cock still twitching from rolling around with her on her bed.

My balls felt heavy and sore. I felt a headache coming on too. What did I do to deserve that?

All I'd done was offer her the use of my body! What woman could find fault with that? I knew I was sought after by the opposite sex. Or I always had been.

Until now.

I parked a little farther from the house than usual, pulling my clothes on as I ranted to myself. The last thing I wanted was to have my brothers catch me driving half-naked. I'd never hear the end of it.

I walked into the house and straight to the bar. I poured myself a whiskey and downed it.

Then I poured another.

I stood there, raging against the unfairness of it all.

What I needed was a cold shower. I went upstairs to take one, bringing the bottle with me. I stood under the icy cold water, trying to get the thought of her out of my mind. I could still see her beneath me, all soft, warm and willing woman.

I could still feel her against me, under my hands.

I could still taste her.

I groaned as my cock bobbed uselessly in the air. I gave up and decided to go with it. I closed my eyes tightly and gripped my shaft, tugging on it firmly. I leaned against the shower wall and let my mind run wild.

She hadn't kicked me out. No, she'd been eager to accommodate me. So eager that she would wrap her legs around my head as I tasted her, bringing her to orgasm after orgasm with my tongue. Then she would roll me onto my back and have a taste of me too.

I felt my balls tighten as I imagined that hot little mouth of hers closing around my rod. She would lick, suck and stroke me until I was close to coming.

Then she'd climb on top of me and ride me until we both came. I could practically feel her thighs around my hips, see her head tossing around, feel her tits as I reached out to squeeze them-

Unffff...

I shuddered violently as I came, my hand milking what appeared to be a gigantic fucking load. I turned the water to warm and let it wash over me, cleaning my seed from my hand and my tingling cock head.

Fucking A.

That was better.

Completely unsatisfying, but better.

It would have been a lot better if the woman herself had finished what she'd started!

I spent the night tossing and turning and swilling more whiskey than a sensible person would consume in a month. But I considered it a victory. What I really wanted to do was go next door and pick up where we'd left off that morning, before she spoiled all my fun.

It was a long night. I got rip roaring drunk alone in my room. And I had to rub one out every time I let myself think about her too much.

I spent more time making friends with Mr. Hand than I had in years.

In the morning I got dressed and went back downstairs. I figured I would do some paperwork, distract myself from wanting to text her and tell her what I thought of her antics. But around lunch I headed right to the bar.

I picked up my phone and stared at it, pecking out a few texts. I deleted them one by one. She wasn't going to react well to being told to get over here and get into my bed. But that's pretty much what all my texts were saying.

"A little early for you isn't it?"

I glanced over my shoulder at Jake. He was grinning at me. He loved it when anyone but him acted the rebel. I shrugged and grabbed the fresh bottle of whiskey someone had put out. That was the best part of having servants. The liquor cabinet was always stocked.

"Missed you at dinner last night."

"I was tired. How's dad?"

"He's good. Resting now but he trounced me at chess this morning."

I nodded, refilling my glass.

"That's good."

"What's gotten into you?"

"Not what,
who
."

"Ah, our pretty little neighbor is under your skin. Elle said she thought as much."

"Under my skin, that's an interesting way of putting it. Like a rash."

Jake laughed and sat down, apparently having nothing better to do than enjoy my misery. I scowled at him, hoping he would go away. He didn't take the hint.

"What, she isn't falling over herself to get into your bed like every other woman in town?"

"No. She kicked me out."

"You're joking."

I shook my head, downing my drink.

"What did you do to deserve that?"

"Nothing! Unless you count fixing her roof, and a leak in her attic!"

He was laughing at me.

"There must be more than that."

I got up abruptly, stomping to the bar to pour myself another drink.

"Well?"

"I offered her my services. No strings attached."

Now Jake was laughing uncontrollably.

"I assume you mean sex."

"Hell yes I mean sex! That woman is so tightly wound she might blast off at any moment. I was doing her a favor."

"I'm sure you told her so."

"Something like that. But instead of being grateful she got pissed off and kicked me out! With no pants on!"

Jake almost fell off the couch he was laughing so hard. I failed to see what was so amusing about the situation. That's when Elle came in. She took one look at the two of us and shook her head.

"What now?"

"Jackson is just telling me about his visit to Angelina's yesterday."

"How did it go?"

My future sister-in-law was just as interested as everyone else in pairing me off. Just because my brothers had settled down, didn't mean I had to. It was a recent and not so subtle change around here that I did not appreciate. In this case however, I was open to suggestions.

"She kicked me out."

"Awwww, so you do like her."

"I want her. 'Like' has nothing to do with it. But she's not interested."

"Oh I wouldn't be too sure about that."

I felt hopeful for the first time as I stared at Elle.

"Why do you say that?"

She shrugged.

"Women's intuition. Just tell her how you feel about her Jackson. Women like that."

I scowled. There was no way I was going to lower myself to admitting I had feelings for her when she'd treated me so shabbily. I would not beg.

Real men did not beg.

"Maybe, if I ever see her again. I doubt she's going to open the door if I go over there again. Even if she does have my damn tools."

"Just bump into her then. Shouldn't be too hard. She does live right next door Jackson."

They were both looking at me like I was slow witted. I grit my teeth. I knew I was desperate if I was asking for advice.

"What am I supposed to do, hang around outside her damn driveway?"

Elle laughed.

"Actually, I just saw her."

I perked up immediately.

"Where?"

"She's out walking her dog."

"She has a dog? She didn't have one yesterday."

"She does now."

I put my drink down and grinned, feeling a fresh surge of energy. Elle was right. I'd just spell it out for little Miss Angelina Randall plain as day. She was going to be my woman from now on. It was very simple. Even she could understand it.

"Where are you going?"

"For a ride."

I saddled my horse myself. I'd been neglecting him, which was unusual for me. I knew who was to blame for that. Angelina and her long legs, long hair and surly disposition.

I mounted my stallion and turned him out towards the road.

"Come on Thor, let's go and get our woman."

Angelina

"Come on boy. I need to wear you out."

The puppy Casey had picked out at the pound was adorable but way more rambunctious than I'd imagined. He'd already knocked over two chairs and a stack of papers I was trying to organize. I was grateful for the way he made Case smile though.

And I needed the distraction.

No matter what I did, I couldn't seem to stop thinking about
him
.

He'd almost gotten what he wanted yesterday. I had no excuse for it either. I hadn't been drunk. I hadn't been caught off guard. I'd known he was going to try it at some point.

I should have been prepared for his moves. Instead, I'd let it happen. Hell, I'd enjoyed it.

Until he'd opened his damn mouth.

"Come on D."

I grimaced, refusing to use the name. Casey had named him after one of the characters on her silly vampire shows. Even I had to admit that the actor playing the bloodthirsty vampire was pretty cute.

None of them had a thing on Jackson Delancey.

I sighed. I wished it wasn't true, but it was.

The man was literally sex on wheels.

I shook my head and turned my thoughts to my first project. I had no time to waste. It was already early spring. I had to turn the soil, amend it, and start growing seedlings as soon as possible.

I had decided to start small. A vegetable garden by the house to try out different crops and see what grew easily and well in the soil.

I'd already started a compost heap, with plans to create a whole row of them behind the hedges that separated our yard from the rest of the farm.

I was so lost in thought that I nearly ran into the damn dog. I stared down at him in consternation.

D's ears had perked up. His tail had stopped wagging, pointing straight for the sky. He was frozen, staring behind me with rapt attention. I turned to see what he was looking at.

Before I even saw him, I knew who it was. I knew the instant I heard the whistling.

Jackson Delancey was whistling at me.

Not a wolf whistle.

He was whistling at me like I was a dog.

I turned around and ignored him. I would not give him the time of day, no matter how good he looked on a horse. The dog kept stopping and looking over his shoulder. I tugged on his leash and whistled at him but it was no use.

I stared down at the stupid dog in disgust as Jackson rode towards us on an enormous horse.

"Traitor."

I resisted the urge to fix my hair. Why I would want to pretty myself up for him was beyond me. But the impulse was there all the same.

He pulled his horse to a stop just a few feet away. I refused to budge even as I thought for a split second he was trying to run me down. I saw a spark of grudging admiration in his eyes for my courage.

I watched in fascination as he stroked the horse's neck affectionately, murmuring words on encouragement. His hand might be on the horse, but his eyes were on me. I stood there self-consciously, realizing I was once again in dusty, dirty work gear. I cursed inwardly. Just once I'd like to show him how I had looked back when I was working in the city, instead of blue jeans, work boots and an old flannel shirt.
