Finally, Casey managed to relax enough to manage a smile. "Yes, sir. Thank you, sir."

The Sarge looked at Bruce, that look still on his face. "Fuck, this is the worst coffee I've ever had."

Bruce winked. "I'll make you a better one, now that you've let my partner stay on."

"You mean you made me a terrible coffee deliberately?"

"Hell yeah."

"You're an arsehole, Bruce."

Bruce slapped the Sarge square on his back. "Hey, it's the least I could do considering I thought you were going to get rid of my Casey."

"You're all damn heart. Besides, if I got rid of him, how could I make sure he kept out of trouble? I know you'll keep him out of mischief, you always have when it comes to those you trust."

"Damn straight."

"Now get out of my office, the both of you." The Sarge placed the coffee onto his desk, pushing it away. "I have to see the DA later, and I need to get my head straight about what to tell him about the rumours that no doubt have reached his ears. I want to make sure they stay rumours, especially where he's concerned. I'll also need to see everyone who was inside that interrogation room's viewer earlier, make sure they're all clear about how to keep what they saw quiet. I'll have to quote some secrecy shit, but it's got to be done. Don't want any civilians of the political persuasion to be hearing about this, that's for sure."

"Hey, Case can dock with the troublesome DA…if you want him to be real nice once he's blown his load, that is," Bruce said with a chuckle.

"Just get the fuck out and get on with your work. See you both tomorrow."

When clear of the Sarge's office, Casey said, "I thought he was going to fire me."

"There's a lot you don't know about our Sarge, Case. A lot."

"What does that mean?"

Bruce's eyes twinkled. "His son's gay."

Casey, for about the third time in as many minutes was surprised by what someone had said. "So he didn't fire me because he's…what, being sympathetic or something? I don't need that. I can do the job no matter who I sleep with. Sure, I have a different method of doing my work, but I don't need charity. Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I'm someone who has to be treated different. You should know that. I mean--"

"Steady on, Case.  You don't quite understand. In the Sarge's case, I'd say he's more proud of you than anything."

Again, Casey was taken aback, almost to the point of being dumbfounded. "What does that mean?"

Bruce smiled, patting him on his back. "It means just that. He didn't accept his son's homosexuality and sort of divorced himself from his life, even separating from his wife because she took his side. Then, about five years back, his son, Rick was his name, was killed in a car accident. Sarge never got to make amends. Never got to know the man he had blindly pushed away."

Casey swallowed hard. "Jesus. That's…that's horrible."

"You can say that again. Rick was a great bloke. He spent all his spare time working for any number of charities, making sure others were looked after before his own needs. I believe the Sarge sees something of his Rick in you, Case. Take it for the compliment it is."

"So he really is on my side then?"

"The Sarge has learned to suck up a lot of misconceptions about a great deal of things. If you have good intentions and do your job, he'll be there for you. Just like I will be, buddy."

Casey patted Bruce on his back. "I could kiss you, you know that."

Bruce stepped back. "Hey, I already got one of those off you. That'll be plenty."

"Yeah, but it saved us all, didn't it?"

"Sure, it did. But if you ever have to fuck me to help us get out of a situation, just leave me. I don't care if I'm bleeding to death from every orifice, just walk away. Clear?"

Casey let out a laugh. "You're such a prude."

"Now, are you going to come over for dinner this weekend? Maria is doing something all master chef-like, with weird sounding names and shit like that. Should be interesting."

"Sure. I've got no plans."

Bruce paused, looked Casey deep into his eyes. "So when you going to ask that Jason fellow out? Heck, bring him to dinner, too. The more the merrier."

Casey could feel himself blush. "I'm not sure…I think he--"

"Jesus, what you waiting for, your balls to be taken over by gravity or something so they drop even lower? Just ask the man out, Case. Get a good fuck out of him at the very least. You need it, trust me. You're as uptight as a rattle snake at a rocking chair convention, seriously."

Casey opened his mouth. Words couldn't form. That sealed it. He did have feelings for Jason. "I…I…I."

Bruce smiled, slapping him on the back again, this time a lot harder. "Oh, I see it all clearly now, you've got the hots for him, haven't you? You want me to ask him for you, princess?"

"No!"

Bruce turned, walking away. "Well, make your move. Otherwise he'll slip away and then you'll be an even sadder little vegemite than you are now. If you don't get your rocks off soon, I'm going to have to give you one myself. And you know how I hate putting my mister happy into anyone's starfish, particularly such a delicate one like you've got."

"All right. I'll go see him tomorrow…after our shift is done." Nerves rose up inside Casey. Aside from the fact Bruce couldn't help make a crack at him about exposing his arsehole, or for kissing him, he did feel determination wash over him, too. Yes. He would do it. Then a terrible thought struck him. Would the man accept his proposal? Rejection right now wouldn't exactly be welcome, not after recent events, anyway. "Happy now?"

Bruce didn't answer. He walked out the door which led to the car park. Casey caught himself, realising he was standing in the hallway alone for a good minute or more. He ran toward the door.

Somehow he suspected tonight's shift would be the longest in history.

Chapter Eleven

Monday morning, after his shift was done, was cold. As were most these days. Casey's nicotine inhaler had been thrown across to the passenger side of his car in disgust. No longer did the device appeal to him. He wanted something more substantial. Something more tangible. Something more responsive.

He wanted Jason.

Bruce hadn't shut up all shift. Not even when they had caught a perp and he was cock docking with him to get a lead on any other shark who might be operating in the area, taking up the void Randy had left. Sharks always acted quick, seizing any opportunity.

Still, he was heading home after nine hours on the beat. He wasn't tired, he didn't sleep until well after breakfast, but he was anxious.

Would Jason even want to be boyfriends with a police officer? Not because he was once a criminal--no, far from it. What person in their right mind would want to fall in love with someone who went to work to face life-threatening danger every moment? Yes, it's what Casey loved to do. But would someone else love him because of such a thing, too? Would someone open themselves up to be devastated when their lover never returned from his shift?

He had pulled to car into Jason's driveway. He lived in a sort of council allotment in the lower class area of Jadebrook. At first, and before he saw the man strapped to Randy's torture rack, he wouldn't have been interested in a man who…well, who was unemployed with no prospects. But something about that night made him see Jason in a different light. Casey now saw Jason as the beautiful man he really was. Besides, if Bruce had welcomed him, even inviting him to dinner, too, then the man had to be good for him. Bruce was always an excellent judge of character.

He climbed out the car.

The front door to Jason's home, a rusty flywire frame with no flywire, squeaked open. In the doorway was Jason, all beaming smiles and adorable glinting eyes. His arm bandaged, but other than that, nothing reminded him about the night in Randy's dungeon. Thank fuck he would be all right after a couple of weeks of rest.

"I'm startin' to think there's a problem, officer," Jason said with a chuckle. "I mean, do all police give the folk they've rescued this much attention? I'd say you're spoiling me, if I didn't know any better."

Casey produced the flowers and chocolates he had picked up at a local 7-11. "You're going to cry foul when I give you these?"

"What are they for?" Jason looked genuinely puzzled, his freckled brow creasing.

Casey swallowed hard. He might as well get on with it. Nothing to lose, now. "Because, I'm asking you out, silly."

Jason's smile was wiped from his face. "You're what? You mean, you're asking me to be your boyfriend?"

"Yeah. That's generally what asking someone out means."

For the longest time there was silence. Jason didn't move, the doorway framing him to perfection, like a work of art. Casey was left holding the flowers, a dozen mixed possies and a box of chocolates with hazelnuts. How awkward was this? He fidgeted on the spot, waiting for Jason to say something. Do something.

Finally, Jason said, "About time you got some damn fuckin' balls and asked me to be your squeeze. Now, come inside, don't want Mamma to think I keep guests on the doorstep for no good reason."

Casey sighed relief, realising he had been holding his breath. "You're such a dick. You had me going for a moment then, you know?"

Jason let out a laugh, coming to embrace him. "I know." He let go. Then, in one fluid motion, kissed Casey smack on his lips and with a tantalising glimpse of tongue, too. Enough to catch his tang, all erotic and welcome. When he parted, he added, "So where you taking me for our first date?"

Casey smiled, his lips still tingling from Jason's affection. "Bruce has asked us both over to dinner at his place on Saturday night."

"So, what, nothing between here and then?"

"Nothing planned." Casey felt bad all of a sudden. Was there some etiquette he missed? Was he supposed to take Jason out today, fresh after his proposal? Such a thing wouldn't be easy, not with him working night shifts, anyway. He wasn't really free until the weekend.

Then Jason let out a guffaw which brought Casey back from his daydreaming. "We could just fuck. Suit me damn fine."

Without thought, Casey said, "What about your mum. Where's she?"

Jason's eyes narrowed. He reached over and pulled Casey into his house with his good hand. "You're so fuckin' sweet and innocent, ain't you? I'm going to have to change all that."

"What do you mean?"

"Mamma's gone with her friends out shopping. She has a bus come round once a week. It's her little holiday away from these four walls. I've got the place to myself for a while. Good thing you turned up when you did." Jason took the flowers and placed them into a vase of the coffee table. The chocolates next to them.

Casey looked around. The house was small, but neat and well furnished. Sure, nothing fancy, but then again, a chair was a chair and a bed was a bed. What did it matter where it was bought from? Jason continued, "Suppose you kiss me real deep and hard, Officer Watson, then we'll go from there. All righty?"

Casey didn't object to that idea one bit. He was already feeling his hardness against his jeans, the familiar pang of lust and need and something much, much deeper. He was feeling affection for the red-haired man standing in front of him, all smiles and so fucking cheeky he needed a good hard cock up his arse. "Be prepared, I'm going to arrest you and bring you in for questioning."

Jason moaned. "Take me officer. I've been a fuckin' bad, bad boy."

Those words were all that needed to be spoken. Casey pounced, wrapping his arms tight around him, forcing him onto the sofa. Seconds after such a move, his hands were wandering all over Jason's body. Both of them groaned with delight. With need. With want.

They kissed.

Casey conquered his boyfriend, sending in his tongue to part his red, warm lips. Jason accepted without hesitation. Soon, and with dizzy spells and moments of pure euphoria, they were naked, rubbing skin on skin. Cock against cock.

"Suck me then fuck me to death," Jason whined, his voice pleading his eyes begging.

Casey kissed his lover's cheeks. Then his neck. He made his way down his whole body, making sure he paid special attention to the parts of him which would arouse him even more. Nipples, stomach, and navel. Soon, he had Jason's hardness in his hand, feeling its heat, its size, its beauty. The man was well endowed. So perfect. His mouth watered, retracting his foreskin, catching a glimpse of pre-cum dribble down from his slit.

Without any further hesitation, Casey took his man into his mouth, as deep as he could go considering this was his first blow job in a long time. Sure, he couldn't get Jason's dick in as far as he would have liked, but still, he gave it a good go. Sucking and slurping and enjoying what the man was blessed with.

When he came away, he could see quite clearly on Jason's face that he had done a damn fine job. He was in heaven.

"Let me get the condom," Casey whispered, trying not to break the mood, but letting his lover know he was being safe, that he cared for him on such a level he wouldn't risk anything.

Jason groaned.

As deftly as he could, Casey retrieved a condom and a tube of travel lube from his jeans' pocket. He had retracted his own foreskin, and with trembling, anxious fingers, rolled the rubber down his length, making sure to pinch the air out of the reservoir at the end. He had to buy a larger headed condom, preferring
Magnums
, simply because his foreskin, being so long, required more room.

Once he had squirted the lube on himself, too, he shuffled himself so he could be in a better position to fuck his boyfriend. Jason had arched his back. The man was panting, waiting for Casey to do his worst or his best. In that moment, he got the impression Jason didn't really care so long as there was cock deep and hard inside him.

Casey didn't make him wait any longer.

With a scream of ecstasy from Jason, and a guttural and ever so manly moan from Casey, they connected. Casey felt like he was going to explode straight away, his stomach quivering, his hands and feet tingling. Having a man, all tight and beautiful around his cock was the best feeling on Earth. He could stay like this forever, never wanting to pull out. "You like that?"
