I stood still as she examined me. She squat down and began ripping little areas of my black leggings. I wasn’t too happy about it because I just bought these leggings a few days ago.

“You know, we’re kind of the same, you and I,” she said as she nodded at my black boots. She made a ‘hm’ sound as she looked and felt at all my clothes.

“You killed someone too?” I said as she circled me while staring at my light denim shorts. The look on her face made me feel like she was checking me out.

“Oh dear god, no,” said Juliet. “I can’t even stand the sight of blood!” She stared into my eyes for a moment, then moved her face closer. She reached around me like she was going for a kiss, but all she did was take the band off of my ponytail, allowing my hair to fall down to my shoulders. “Ah, that’s better.”

I fluffed my hair a bit to remove any tangles.

“We’re the same because I wasn’t accepted right away, either,” she said. “They thought I wasn’t fit for this life because of how squeamish I was around blood,” she said as she fluffed my hair. “And you know how these guys are, all violent and rough and all that shit. Me? No way. I’ll let them handle that while I stay home and wait. Maybe bake them all cupcakes or something. Nothing like watching a bunch of angry looking giants covered in leather eating cupcakes.”

“I’d love to see that one of these days,” I said. Juliet looked intimidating but I was surprised by how friendly she actually was.

“Stick around long enough and you can help put the frosting on!”

“So are you related to Rainer and Rocket? Your last names are the same.”

She started to laugh and chomp on her gum with her mouth open, “No way! I’m actually Rocky Boy’s wife.”

“Rocky Boy? Rocket?” I said.

“Yeah! Or,” she paused and made an angry face, “Brother,” she said in a deep voice. “I don’t know why they call each other brother, I mean, I guess it’s cause they’re brothers, but I don’t know. It seems weird to me, I’ll never get used to it.”

“Oh yeah, I always thought it was strange they did that.”

“Yeah,” she said as she unbuttoned part of my top to expose my black bra and cleavage. “They’re such dorks, the two of them.”

I smiled instead of laughing because I wasn’t sure if she’d get mad. And also because I never really had my cleavage exposed in front of anyone except Mandy.

She placed her hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eyes, “Relax, girl. It’s just you and me now! Don’t hold back,” she said.

I hated how everyone could see right through me so easily, but I was happy that I got to meet Juliet. It was a nice change from all the hostile glares I got outside.

I laughed, “Yeah, I guess they are a bit dorky. I wouldn’t have known Rainer was Vice President if he didn’t tell me.”

“Oh, yeah. He’s such a nice guy, right?” she said. “Not timid or mean like you’d expect from someone in that position.”

“Yeah! And he looks younger than some of the guys I saw out there.”

“Rainer, Rocky Boy, Sid, and Lanvin,” she said while shaking her head. “None of them were prepared for their new positions, but they stepped up to the plate anyways.”

“New positions?—“

Juliet moved closer and closer to my face while she perched her lips, keeping her eyes in contact with mine like some seductive trance. I didn’t know what to do so I closed my eyes and perched my lips, then I felt something circle my lips. I opened my eyes to realize it was lipstick and she was tracing my mouth.

“Were you trying to kiss me?” she asked.

“What, no. I—“

“Relax!” she said while laughing. “I’m just fucking with you.”

I laughed nervously. “Oh, yeah, me too.”

“You know, Lanvin was actually the one that convinced the guys to be nicer to me. Sid’s still a dick sometimes. But Rocky Boy was the one who stole my heart. It’s funny, I always thought it’d be Lanvin, but I knew he wasn’t really my type. And Rainer was always distant, but he’s always been like that. With most people, at least.”

“Why’s that?” I said.

“I don’t know, unlike the other guys you’ll probably run into around here, Rainer kind of keeps to himself. He doesn’t really hook up with any of the girls, either. The other guys think it’s cause he’s shy, but if there’s one thing I know, Rainer is far from shy.”

“So what do you think it is?”

“I think he’s just the type of guy who knows exactly what he wants. He doesn’t really bullshit or play the field or hook up with different girls like the others. He’s polite but he’ll never show interest to just any girl. He knows exactly what type of girl he likes, and that type seems to be you.”

I started to blush. “You think so?”

“I know so.”

Juliet grabbed a black leather jacket from the cabinet and walked behind me. I placed my hands into the sleeves as she held it up.

“So… have you two, you know, fucked yet?” said Juliet.

“What?” I coughed and turned red. “No! I mean — he hasn’t tried anything if that’s what you’re wondering. Just a bit of hand holding and hugging. But that all happened during strange circumstances so I couldn’t tell if it meant anything more, you know?”

Juliet hugged me from behind and put her face so close to mine that our cheeks were touching, “So if he made a move, would you stop him if he tried?” she said with a grin.

“I—I’m not sure,” I said. Although the truth is, if Rainer wanted some, I’d be the happiest girl on the planet. It’d feel like winning the lottery, or at least how I imagined winning the lottery would feel like — which would be absolutely fucking amazing.

“Oh come on,” she said. “You can tell me!”

I bit my lip and stared at the ground, “Let’s just say that if he did try, which I highly doubt, I probably won’t stop him.”

She laughed then hugged my tight and let go. “So he hasn’t tried anything, eh?” she said. “Wow, most of these other guys would have tried as soon as possible. If I were a him, I know I would,” she said as she made her way in front of me. “You must mean something special to him.”

My cheeks felt warm and I couldn’t contain the smile on my face. “Are you flirting with me, Juliet?” I said in a seductive but obviously joking way.

Juliet moved in front of me and gently placed her palm against the side of my neck. “Would you stop me if I tried?”

“I, um—“

“Candace!” She said, moving her hand away while laughing, “I’m fucking with you! That’s not to say you aren’t attractive, because you are. You’re a fucking cutie, but I’m married, hun. And I’m into guys.”

“Rocket’s one lucky guy,” I said. “I didn’t want to come off as weird or anything but you’re actually really attractive yourself.”

Juliet smiled and stuck her tongue out. “Now I feel like I should ask
you
if you’re flirting with me.”

We both laughed as Juliet applied more eyeliner and eye shadow. It didn’t take her long at all, so I figured she may have rushed it. It usually takes me an hour to do it myself.

“You’re all set! I’d wear high waisted black shorts but I think your light washed denim actually looks alright with this outfit,” she said as she circled me, staring up and down. “Turn around and check yourself out, hottie!”

I turned and looked in the mirror. My jaw dropped when I saw how amazing the makeup was. I felt badass after I noticed the holes in my leggings. I usually hated holes because they were always caused by weird accidents, but it actually worked out nicely with this outfit. I really loved the black leather biker jacket she placed over my hoodie.

I felt super grungy like I was about to shoot heroin or start a band or something. I don’t think I saw any heroin

outside, but I don’t think I’d do it cause needles scare the shit out of me. But damn, this look made me feel badass. Maybe I should try cocaine or something, I definitely saw that out there. Mandy would probably throw a fit if she found out.

The biker jacket over my unzipped hoodie was a nice layering touch that I could see myself wearing all the time. I spun around to check myself out in the mirror. The red lipstick was the same one Juliet was wearing, and although she said it looked amazing on me, and I thought it looked great, I still think it looked nicer on her.

“So, how do you like it?” she said, her eyes wide and fingers intertwined to create a surface to rest her chin.

I tried to imagine some badass punch line that I could say, or maybe some weird action that I could do, but all I did was lift both my hands, giving her two thumbs up, “I love it!” The whole thing looked so much cooler in my head.

Juliet grabbed my hand and I followed her out of the room with my head down. As much as I loved my new look, I remembered that literally everyone except Rainer and Juliet hated me out there. I didn’t want to seem like a poser so I hoped that nobody would recognize me, that way I could get back to Rainer in one piece.

Once the door swung open, I noticed the music was louder. Everyone seemed to be acting wilder than before. Did everyone get wasted while I was changing? I swear I wasn’t in there for long.

I heard a whistle headed towards our direction and immediately assumed it was for Juliet. That is, until I looked over at the guy and he started nodding at me with a creepy smile. I guess I could add him to my list of people who don’t hate me. Maybe he was one of the members that didn’t know about me.

I noticed all the eyes pointed in my direction as I walked through, but it was different this time. They didn’t have angry scowls or furrowed brows. They didn’t look like they were about to spit on me or throw their drinks at my face. The crowd actually seemed nicer. Happier, even. They were smiling and cheering at me as we passed.

Was it my outfit? The makeup? Drugs? I didn’t think I looked that much different, but maybe I did.

After an odd trip past the drunk and drugged people who seemed to all be friendlier now, we finally spotted Rainer. He was smoking a cigarette and drinking another bottle of whiskey while talking to Rocket and Lanvin.

Juliet let go of my hand and ran towards Rainer, hugging him from behind as she whispered something in his ear. Then she moved to Rocket, who she jumped on and immediately started kissing.

“Hey baby,” said Rocket. “How’d it go in there—“ he stopped when he saw me in the corner of his eyes. “Wow.”

Lanvin turned and stood by Juliet and Rocket with his eyes fixed on me. “Damn, I-is that who I think it is?”

I blushed and looked to the floor. I stood behind and watched Rainer’s boots as he made a one-eighty to face me. He didn’t say anything so I crept my eyes up to see his face.

He dropped his half-smoked cigarette and took a drink, then looked back at me, still speechless.

Rocket moved beside Rainer and gave him a nudge. “Now I see why you let her live,” he said.

“Ain’t she beautiful, Rainer?” Juliet said.

Rainer moved towards me, glancing up and down at my body. He walked around me without saying a word. I stood there awkwardly and once he stopped in front of me, I shrugged and tried not to blush. “Do you like it?”

Rainer took another drink, his head remained still but his eyes moved slowly up and down my body. Then he nodded. “How about I grab you—” he said with a cough. I felt my face warm up and a smile form at the corner of my lip.

“How about I grab you a drink?” he smiled and couldn’t take his eyes off me, even when he took another sip.

“I’d like that,” I said.

I saw Juliet spazzing out to Rocket from the corner of my eye, and the surprised look on Lanvin’s face remained the same.

Juliet and Rocket were motioning me to go with Rainer and I wanted them to stop because I was starting to feel embarrassed. That’s when Rainer reached out his hand. Once I took hold of it, the whole room started to blur. I could still hear the whistles and cheers headed our direction, but all I was really focused on was Rainer. His big strong body, the way his muscles looked like they were always flexing. His handsome face and sexy hair that he kept combing back every now and then. The way he smiled whenever he looked at me made me feel like I was the only person he could see, too.

Rainer dug around the fridge and came back out with a bottle of vodka and orange juice. After he mixed it for me, we made our way to a nearby room.

CHAPTER TEN

Candice

“Seems like this new look really turned people around out there,” I said.

Rainer placed the glass of vodka, orange juice, and his whiskey on a nearby table, then walked towards me, “Yeah, that’s definitely it,” he said. “Have you seen yourself?”

He followed me as I walked around the room. There wasn’t much in here but a giant bed with black sheets and four pillows. There was a huge television connected to the wall that played a looping video of rain, accompanied by the sound. The rain sound reminded me of Mandy’s place, but the room itself was a lot neater. The wooden floors were much cleaner than outside and the layout was similar to the room with Juliet, except a little bigger. Rainer opened a door that lead to a bathroom where he began to wash.

“I can give you a tour if you’d like?” he said as the water splashed.

“Is this your room?” I said. I took a good look at myself in the mirror to make sure there was nothing weird on my face.

I heard him shut the faucet off and watched as he wiped his face while standing at the door. A bit of water dripped down towards his bare chest and I couldn’t help but take a peak while his face was covered. His abs looked like they were straight out of a fitness magazine.

“It is when I stay here,” he said. “I have another place, too.”

I downed my cup of vodka and orange juice, then began to pour myself some more. I needed to settle my nerves just in case Rainer made a move. I didn’t want to be awkward around him like I usually was.

“Did something happen out there? Everyone seemed a lot friendlier than earlier, which is weird considering I kind of started a war.”

“That’s just how it is. Everyone looks mean until you get to know them. Maybe you were seeing things cause of all those margaritas we had.”

“Oh yeah, that’s possible.”

“Don’t worry about them, they won’t do shit as long as you’re with me. Plus, you didn’t actually start the war, remember?”

“But I shot that girl.”

“Yeah, and I killed her husband before that. And a few days before that, the girl you shot got three of our men killed by setting us up.”

My head was spinning from the alcohol. I wasn’t sure how much orange juice and vodka to pour into my cup but I’m pretty sure I put too much vodka.

“How’d you know it was her?” I said.

Rainer tossed his towel aside and made his way towards me. He grabbed his bottle of whiskey, took a drink, and made his way to the bed. “See, what normal folks don’t get is that we have connections all over the place. And ain’t nobody like snitches. One of the crooked cops tried to warn us but it was too late.” Rainer took another sip. “She was basically asking for that bullet you gave her.”

I took a huge gulp and blew the air out of my mouth after I swallowed. I tried not to breath into my nose so that I wouldn’t taste the alcohol. “Well that makes me feel a little better, I guess.”

Rainer got up and moved next to me, I felt his warmth brush against the back of my hand before he poured more orange juice into my cup. “Try it now,” he said.

I took a small sip and it tasted much better.

“Was that the first time you killed someone?”

“Yeah, unless you count bugs. I kill those sometimes.”

“Well if it makes you feel better, that girl you killed was pretty much a bug.”

“I don’t think I’ll be able to kill anything again,” I said.

“Good. You shouldn’t. Look at it this way, she would have done more harm if she were alive than if she were dead. You probably saved more lives than you’ll ever know.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m damn sure.”

We both took a drink. I couldn’t tell if Rainer was tipsy but I knew I was feeling the buzz. I felt happy just being in the same room as him. I moved towards the bed where he sat and he scooted over, then patted the space beside him.

“Are you nervous?” he asked.

“Me? No, why do you say that?”

“It took you a while to come over here.”

I sat next to him and smiled, then I took another sip. I watched his face as he stared at the raindrops on the television. His hazel eyes sparkled and I could smell the scent of vanilla from his newly cleaned face. “You know, I didn’t think you’d look the way you did,” I said.

He turned to me with a confused expression. “What you mean?”

“Like, when you all kidnapped me and all I could really go off of was your voices.”

“Oh yeah. What’d you think I looked like?”

I took a big sip and smiled. “I don’t know, a lot less handsome I guess. Ugly even. Like one of those people who have really nice voices but an ugly face.” I took another drink because I couldn’t believe I just said that.

Rainer picked his bottle up to check his reflection, then he took a drink. “Is that right?”

“Yeah, I thought you’d be much older too, with white hair and a bunch of wrinkles. You know, since you’re like a boss and all.”

His smile brightened the room. “Well I’m only VP, my dad was the boss until last week. Now it’s my uncle.”

He downed his bottle and placed it on the floor.

“I’m sorry,” I said as I put my hand on his knee. He looked at my hand for a moment, then up at my face and smiled. “It’s not your fault,” he said. “Remember?”

Rainer placed his hand against the small of my back and I felt a rush through my body.

I looked deep into his beautiful eyes, trying my best to find the hurt and anger he held inside.

“Can I ask you something?” I said.

“Shoot.”

“Back at the shop when I was all tied up and blindfolded, why did you let me go?”

A grin began to form at his mouth.

“Well first off, death wish Dorothy, I had my eyes on you the whole time when you started waking up in that chair. Sid and Lanvin were running their mouths like they usually do, arguing over what to do with you.”

“Yeah, that was actually really, really scary.”

“As scary as that must have been for you, I noticed you weren’t exactly tapping your heels wishing to go home.”

“But you saw me begging for my life,” I said.

“Yeah, but that didn’t happen until the very last second. When Sid actually had his gun pointed at you. The moment you realized your life was about to be over. It was only then that you started to beg. There was plenty of time for you to try and stop us.”

“I didn’t even realize I waited that long…”

“See, I’ve been in these situations plenty of times and I’ve never seen anyone react the way you did. It was almost as if you didn’t mind if we killed you, like maybe we were doing you a favor.”

“So you spared me because you didn’t want to do me a favor?”

“I’d be lying if I didn’t say that was a small part of it, darling,” he said with a smile. “I spared you because I saw the light come back into your life. In a way, when you suddenly began pleading for your life, it sparked something inside of me, you following me?”

I took a sip. “What do you mean?”

“You showed me that there’s light at the end of this tunnel. That even in the darkest moments, when everything has gone to shit, and everything’s a fucking mess, giving up is never the answer. It was like a glimmer of hope.”

I felt the tears form in my eyes. I didn’t think it was possible for someone to know me so well in so little time. I think he knew me more than I knew myself.

“So what about that time on the side of the road? Why didn’t you shoot me?”

“Remember that light I was just talking about?”

“Yeah, the glimmer of hope?”

“Yes, that one. I couldn’t shoot you because that light I saw in you before was gone.”

“I’m sorry,” I said.

“No, it’s my fault. I took it from you when I gave you that gun. I felt like a blackout cutting off all the electricity and stealing your light. All I saw in your beautiful eyes was darkness, and I couldn’t stand knowing that I was the one that caused that. You were giving up, and it was all my fault.”

His eyes were glossy and I could tell he genuinely felt bad. This was the exact moment when I realized that we weren’t so different after all. I finished my drink and placed it on the ground.

“You shouldn’t blame yourself, I wasn’t exactly in the best place before I met you.”

“It’s okay, you don’t have to make me feel better. I know it was my fault—“

I cut him off by giving him a peck on his cheek. I sat there for a moment, my face flushed staring at the ground. If someone told me I’d ever be brave enough to make a move like that a week ago, I wouldn’t believe them.

I looked up at Rainer, his face staring at the ground just like I was, but he had a smile across his face. I placed my hand under his chin, lifting his head to face mine.

We grew closer and closer, his breath against mine. I could feel the heat emanating from our faces. Our eyelashes as they fluttered against one another. “It’s not your fault,” I said as his lips grazed mine. And then he kissed me.

A gentle kiss, only stopping to make to look into my eyes as if he wanted approval. I smiled as he smiled, our eyelids heavy as our gaze moved up and down trying to read each other’s faces. Then we locked lips again.

Rainer pulled me onto his lap and I brushed his hair away from his face. In between kisses he said “I’m glad you’re alive.”

It all felt like a dream, like somehow this couldn’t be real, this couldn’t be happening. The man I’ve fallen for actually liked me back. And now we were alone, in his room, with the sound of rain drowning out the noises as our tongues got to know each other. My legs wrapped around his body as I sat on his lap.

I felt his warm and rough hands slowly move into my shirt. Goosebumps formed with each touch as we embraced one another.

I loved how Juliet styled me, but I wanted all of my clothes off, and so did Rainer. I lifted my arms, unable to detach from his soft lips as he quickly pulled the motorcycle jacket off my body.

The floor was soon to be our hamper as we tossed each article of clothing off one by one.

My buzz was stronger now, but not stronger than the desire I felt for Rainer’s hidden gem beneath his jeans.

I felt the tug against my shirt as he removed the buttons, starting near my neck and down. I wanted him now, I couldn’t help it.

“Rip it off,” I whispered.

And just like that, the ticking sound of a few buttons landing on the floor let me know that this was definitely going to move forward. Faster, harder, uncontrolled emotions were about to let loose.

I rushed to remove the sleeves as Rainer began to unbutton my shorts. He stared into my eyes like he wanted me more than anything.

After unlatching my bra, I threw it across the room and watched his excitement. After the last button of my shorts, Rainer stood up, holding the bottom of my thighs as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders.

My delicate breasts tickled against the rough hairs on his chin as he moved his face into them. The warmth of his breath made my nipples hard and I hugged his torso with my legs, hoping the pressure would hit me below.

I grabbed his face off my breasts and looked into his bedroom eyes, half open, half closed. His iris moving up and down to my lips and back to my eyes as he kissed me.

I closed my eyes and lifted my head towards the ceiling as his soft kisses moved down from my lips, to my chin, then to my neck. My sensitive skin against his lips sent shivers up and down my spine as he sucked on my neck.

I grabbed the hair on the back of his head, squeezing in hopes that he’d suck even harder.

He did.

Then he lifted me even higher, his face in between my breasts as he inhaled. Then he softly kissed around, stopping at my nipples to suck them. Rainer gave each one the same amount of attention as he looked up at me. I gasped at how amazing it felt.

With no warning, Rainer turned around and moved forward onto the bed, resting my body gently onto the sheets as his tongue swirled around my mouth.

I desperately tried to unbutton his jeans from below but his kisses made me feel dizzy. After I managed to unbutton each one, Rainer pulled away and stood at the edge of the bed.

He began to pull his pants down slowly but I couldn’t wait, so I got up on all fours and crawled over to him. I pulled his pants down as hard as I could, revealing his boxer briefs below.

Rainer bent over to untie his shoelaces as fast as possible and he kicked both of his boots across the room. I looked up at him and then back to his crotch, watching the indentation of his cock grow larger and larger.

I wanted it more than ever and I could feel the wetness below my panties.

I placed my palms against his chest, feeling all his muscles and tattoos. The ring on his nipple moved as he breathed.

His warm skin was smooth as I made my way down, stopping at his boxer briefs. I gave it a tug and let it snap back at him, then he smiled. I moved my palm to cover his almost erect cock and began to stroke it from the outside, watching it grow and grow as I bit my lip. I looked into his eyes and he licked his lips and suddenly the tip moved out of his underwear.

I couldn’t wait so I pulled his boxer briefs down his legs, then let Rainer remove it from his feet. After he kicked his pants and boxer briefs away, we smiled at each other as the loud sound of my cup and his empty bottle of alcohol rushed across the floor. I took a deep breath as I was finally face to face with his hard cock. The warmth emanating from it as it stared back at me made my eyes widen and my jaw drop. I couldn’t believe how big it was and I could tell it wasn’t even as hard as he could get.

I rushed my hands of his warm thighs and grabbed the base of his cock, his girth larger than my fingers could wrap.

As bad as I wanted it in my mouth, I thought I’d tease him a bit so I stuck my tongue out and licked his tip, circling my tongue all around his head. His bright smile and nod let me know he loved it.

His breaths grew deeper and his cock became harder as I lifted it and licked all the way up, starting from the base and stopping at the tip. His body smelled like vanilla and the salty taste of his skin excited me.

I couldn’t take it anymore so I opened up wide and put the tip of him inside of my mouth and moved my head back and fourth, staring into this eyes the entire time. His breathing grew heavier and heavier as my lips moved further and further, letting him go deeper into my mouth.
