“When it came to Danni going off to college, I felt free, I was left looking after them, I was young myself. It was hard, I ended up distant myself from them. Especially peanut, and not because I resented her, I just thought she’d be better off without me around. Back then, I was not perfect, I hurt many people just for the sake of it. Plus, I may have screwed up her first love, It made me feel guilty.  Then after I heard what happened to her, I vowed I’d never let it happen again and I regretted the distance I made between us.”

“Understandable man, it must have been hard. You all have a great bound though. I’ve seen all you together. I wish I had that with my siblings, well I do with Julie but my older brother nick, he is a nut job. I’m glad Danni will never meet him, he’s poison. Even if Danni and I get back together, I’d make sure of it and that’s a big if. After all, she did say she hated me, and wish she never met me. I bet you’re happy with that.”

“I won’t lie it does make me happier knowing my sister kicked your ass to the curb but I don’t agree with what she said to you, but you need to know, she didn’t mean it. She just lost her best friend and if it makes you feel any better, she came after you.” I jerk with a bit of hope hearing that.

“Really? I never seen her and I’d be lying if I said I did wait for a while hoping she did.”

“Well, you should have waited longer because she got there just as you took off, fate man, it’s a bitch.”

“You’re telling me.” A smile rises on my face, as I’m over the moon that she came after me, it means she still loves me. I want to shout woohoo from the top of my lungs but then I’d look a bit of a fool, especially in front of Adam, he would take the piss. “So while we’re on the subject, well far from it, but do you want to tell me what I did to you, which makes you despise me so much?”

“Were to start you’re obnoxious, arrogant, self-righteous and full of yourself and let’s not get started on your hair.”

“What’s wrong with my hair?”

“Oh, I don’t know."  He sarcastically say’s "Maybe it’s the way you feel the need to flick your hair every five seconds."

"I do not flick my hair."

"You just did it!"

"It's called moving your head, you ought to try it sometime, instead of just staying still like a statue and you always look the same. It must be an art to have the same miserable facial expression, twenty four seven."

“I like to call it a master piece, so your turn. What’s your problem with me?”

“That’s simple, you’re just an ass and you’re screwing my sister and the fact that you always try to overpower me and I end up with a black eye.”

“Well, you deserve it! To be honest, I think the main reason why I despise you, is because Danni is my little sister. I have been her hero since day one, then you come along and it’s all about Jared. I’ve seen the news on how you were, such a play boy before her. I don’t want you treating Danni like she another conquest, guys like you are all the same. You think you have money, so you can do and get away with anything you want, It pisses me off.”

“It’s kind of hypocritical don’t you think?”

“Why is it?”

“You have money, you grew up with it, so wouldn’t you be describing yourself?”

“Not really, we’re not billionaires like you and I’ve always been genuine, the way I am today is how I’ve always been. I have never change and never will. Loyalty and respect always and that’s only giving if it’s deserved.”

“You know, say what you like about me but you have got me entirely wrong when it comes to your sister. Yes, I may have been like that in the past but with her it’s completely different and I don’t have to prove myself to you or anyone else when it comes to my feelings for her.” He nods to say fair enough and I turn my head to gaze out the window.  All this talk about Danni is killing me, I pray that she is ok. The thought of never seeing her beautiful green eyes sparkle, or her bright full smile that takes up her whole face, the touch of her full smooth lips on mine, or her slender arms around my waste will never happen again, is a sentence worse than death. 

              
 
Chapter Sixteen

Finally, were here, that car drive felt like it went on forever.  I hate the fact that I have to come and visit this prick; last time he was around, he hit me with a bat.

              “Are you ready for this? I swore to myself, if I ever came face to face with this rat ever again, I’d destroy him after what he did to my sister.” Adam snaps,

“Let’s get this over and done with.” I snap and walk into the prison.

We’re brought into a small room with no windows. All it has in the centre is a wooden table.

“Shall we sit?” I offer Adam and Andrew.”

“No sir, I’d rather stand.”

“Hey, if he won’t sit, I’m happy too.” Just as we park our ass, the door opens and In strolls that prick in a orange jump suit and by the looks of it he’s had a good seeing too, his face is discoloured through bruises, dislocated eye sockets, busted lip. I am not going to lie; much pleasure comes to me witnessing him like this.

“Thanks, Henry, for getting us the chance to come in this private room.” He nods no problem and in a hazy voice, Dillon quips.

“What, are you two knuckle heads doing here?” Adam and I start to laugh and Adam starts to say.

“What the hell happened to you? Other prisoners giving you hell, for being an utter low life scum?”

“Not exactly, this is the work of your darling little sister; she’s not so innocent anymore. The bitch ordered this guy to give me a good seeing to.” I burst out laughing and start to clap my hands together.

“That is hilarious, at least you know how Danni felt all the times you did it to her. You son of a bitch, you deserved it and don’t call her a bitch.” Adam interrupts my laughing spree.

“Danni wouldn’t do this, you’re lying. Danni wouldn’t resort to violence like this, not after it has been done to her over and over again.”

“I can assure you, I’m not lying. Your darling sister came to me asking questions and threatened if I did not tell her what I knew, she’ll get the guard to destroy me. I called her bluff, she looked over at him and he was straight down my throat, she stopped him and I told her everything, then when she was leaving, she gave him the go ahead to do whatever he wants. Looks like her lover boy over there, has done one number on her, dear sister has gone crazy. I’m pretty proud actually, it’s about time she grew balls.” Before he can say anything else, Adam jumps over the table and strikes him shouting.

“You son of a bitch, this is all your doing.”

“Henry, get Adam of him.” Henry grabs Adam and flings him back. “Adam, what the hell man? Are you trying to get locked up too?” His face is bright red with anger.

“Are you going to let him talk about Danni like that and the fact that he’s blaming you?”

“Dude, he’s trying to get under our skin. Play smart here otherwise, we won’t find Danni.”

“Aww I’m flattered Jared, since when do you have my back?”

“Be smug as much as you like, that wasn’t for your benefit. Now talk.”

“Find Danni? Is she missing? Ha-ha the silly fool, I told her she couldn’t win.”

“Watch it rat, I don’t care that we’re in a prison, I will rip you apart.” Adam snaps,

“Listen Dillon, as you know, Henry is very loyal to me and if he did this to you because Danni asked him, can you imagine what he will do to you if I give him permission? You wouldn’t be waking up. Therefore, if you value your worthless life, I suggest you tell us what we want to know. Now, why did Danni come here and where did she leave to go?” His face turns wary knowing I’m telling the truth.

“She came to me wanting answers, on why Carl and where Sabrina is and also why Phillip turned his back on you guys and like I told her, he’s been with her since day one. Now, she came to me two weeks ago. I do not have a clue where she is, but if she tracking Sabrina, then take a trip to London, as that is where she is. Although, that was a few days ago, they could have moved on already. All three of them were there and if Danni followed them, then she’ll be there too.”

“All three of them, who is the third one? I only thought it was you, Sabrina and Phillip.”

“Well that’s where you’re wrong; I couldn’t tell you who he is. All I know is that he likes to keep in the dark and for him to turn up now means you two really have pissed him off.” Adam turns to me confused,

“Who else have you fucking pissed off, for him to want Danni?”

“I don’t know, it’s not like I put a sign out saying, hey, hate me, and target the one I love. They are many people out there who despise me through jealousy, or it could even be for money. Maybe some low life scum wants to use Danni to get a lump sum of money from me. It’s a fucked up world you know. I’m not god, I cannot control the world and the people in it.”

“Well you best figure it out now, instead of wasting time. For, fuck sake.”

“Hey, I didn’t ask you to come along; you just followed, if you can do better yourself, by all means fucking leave.”

“If you two lovers want to start bickering, please may I leave now? I’ve told you everything I know.”

“Shut up, Dillon! Jared, I didn’t follow you, you need my help and as it’s my sister, we’ll start doing things my way, because your way is useless.”

“How is your way better than this? We both came here together because we had the same lead you fucking idiot.” At this time, we’re back at phase one, face to face. Dillon starts to laugh,

“You two are supposed to be the ones to save Danni? That girl has no chance with you two. You’re too busy trying to show who is the bigger, badder, male. It’s clouding both of your judgment. All your both going to do is send Danni to an early death sentence, if you two knuckle heads don’t get your shit together.”

“Is that compassion I hear coming from you?” Adam snarls,

“What can I say; I’m turning a new leaf. Regardless of what I’ve done to Danni, I still love her.” I chuckle at that ridiculous remark.

“You’re incapable of love; if you did love her, you wouldn’t have tried to kill her.”

“I tried to kill her because I love her.”

“That is twisted.”

“Look, after being in here and your boy over their beat the shit out of me, made me realize my regrets. I’m paying for what I did to Danni and Carl, seeing as I’m the one who told them to go for him. I’m paying for my sins, when are you finally going to pay for yours? You cannot run away from them forever and if you think about it, you’re just as bad, possibly worse. I knew what I was doing and I have always held my hands up to it but you, you thought you killed Sabrina and left her there to rot and you’ve been hiding from it since, that makes you much worse.” He rolls backwards in his wheel chair and straight to Henry “I’m ready to go back.” He looks over his shoulder, “Thanks for the visit guys, it’s been insightful. Don’t come back.” I drop my head because I know he is right, I am terrible for what I did and I should not run from it anymore. I need to come clean, If I come clean for what I have done, then I could stop all of this, but I need to find Danni first and make sure she’s safe.

“Come on, Jared! We should get a move on.” Adam states, pulling on to my arm. I jerk his hand away from me.

“Don’t man handle me, dude!”

“I wouldn’t have to is you weren’t stood there going off into space. The longer we wait around, the less chance we have finding her, so let’s move our ass.”

We leave the prison and head straight for the car, feeling even worse than we did arriving here.

Once we jump in and speed of, I place my head on the headrest and gaze out the window, Its pissing down with rain. The raindrops thudding over on the car, seem to be all I can hear, as I’m left wondering in my mind with the answer, what if? What if I came clean now, then maybe they’ll bring her back. What if I stayed away from Danni, what would her life be like if we never met? It would be carefree, no stress, no one trying to break her and everyone she loves dear. She would still have Carl. All this bad karma for what I did and she is getting the backlash of it all. Dillon was right, I am worse than he is, I should have grown balls and paid for my sins all them years ago.

Through all these negative thoughts and I still only see Danni and I, being together, happy, having everything we could ever want. Is it selfish to still want all of this, considering what has happened to her, because of me? I guess it is, maybe I should set her free once and for all. Maybe then, she can have her life back finally and live a drama free life.

“Jared, I’m not one for hand holding, but since we’ve been back in the car, you’ve been turning the whole atmosphere it to a sorry cave, it’s suffocating and I cannot breathe. Is this to do with what Dillon said?” I roll my eyes towards him and shrug my shoulders because I cannot be arsed talking about this, he’ll only make me feel worse. “Look man, suck it up and get over it, what you did to Sabrina was unspeakable.” I interrupt him.

“I really don’t need a pep talk from you; you don’t need to make me feel even worse then what I do.”

“Well tough luck, you’re getting one, If I’m stuck with you for a while, I do not want to be dealing with a grown man who looks like he wants to weep like a little girl, so just listen.”

“I’m not weeping; this is what you call a pep talk? Wow dude, you suck.”

“Shut up and listen. Yes, it was unspeakable, hey, we’ve all done unspeakable things, I have, ones I will not speak of. You need to look at the positive here. Look at all the good you have done to redeem yourself. All that good you’ve done since then, rules out the one bad experience and if my sister can see past all of that, then trust me when I say, it’s something to feel better about. My sister went from a monster to you. If you put both of you in a room in front of anyone, they’d all agree, that it’s not you, and that is one fucking hard thing to admit to, seeing as I can’t stand you.” That was actually a compliment coming from him, I must have died and hell froze over.

“Thanks, I think! So are we going to kiss and make up with some hot chocolate?” I joke to ease the awkwardness he would have felt expressing that.

“You wish, you know I’m to manly for you.”

“I was being sarcastic dude, that image is just wrong.” He chuckles to himself from my reaction. Yes, I fell for that. “So does this mean you finally accept your sister and I being together?”

“Don’t push it! For what it’s worth, I finally realize what my sister

means to you, so it’s a start. Now shut up before I have to punch you in your pretty boy face, to prevent my testosterone levels from dropping from this conversation.”

“Once we get to London, we should hit a hotel, it’ll be late and then come tomorrow morning we can work on searching around London for her.”

“There has to be a quicker way to narrow the search down. Actually, they could be.”

“What do you mean?”

“Couldn’t you use your sources to track her by her mobile number? That would give us a definite location?” I slap my forehead, how idiotic can I be.

“Why didn’t we just think of that first, we could’ve have saved ourselves from this pointless trip and seeing that prick, it can lead us straight to Danni.”

“Well not lead us to Danni; it’ll lead us to her phone. If Sabrina has Danni, she wouldn’t be stupid enough to let her have her mobile on her because she’ll know that’s what you’d do, but if we find the phone, we can access it and see her last messages, emails, calls, the lot.”

“You’re right, good thinking. I’ll ring them now and it should be ready for us in the morning.” I grab my cell from my pocket and start dialing for Tye, and give him specific instructions. Once I’m done I hang up and a grin flows across my face and a spark of hope has finally hit me, as we’re a step closer to finding my girl and once we have her back, I’m done playing the nice guy, I will make them all pay and they will regret ever crossing me.

“Danni is in room twelve, that’s what the message of Tye says.” We are at a modern hotel, a standard one. It didn’t take Tye long to get the information. When we got here last night, it was late, so we decided to get some shuteye and first thing, we would come straight here.

It is only nine in the morning, but we could not wait. I am scared to actually go inside, what if it’s a dead body of my girl? That would be torture. “Are you ready Adam?” He nods, ready. “After three guys! One, two, three.” Andrew kicks the door in and some lad jumps up from the bed half-naked.  Before I can even say anything, Adam rushes over.

“You’re a fucking prick, where is she?” He’s grabbed this poor guy, by the throat and knocks him one in the face.

“Adam, seriously, is it always hit first, ask questions later with you?” I walk closer towards him and have a glance around the room. Oh my, this is Danni room all right; it’s full of pictures of Sabrina and Phillip.

“It’s the best way to be, and then he knows he can’t lie.” Adam replies knocking me out from my trance.”

“Well, we won’t get information of him like this.”

“Let me go Adam.” This guy snaps pushing him away.”

“Where is Danni? I won’t ask again, Tyler!”

“You know this guy?” I ask,

“He’s an old friend. I won’t ask again.”
